* Anambra State Governor’s wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo has asked those living in flood prone areas of the state to prepare to move to higher grounds, following predictions that flood is imminent. The first lady who stated this in Awka, the state capital, explained that the recent emergency notices released by both the federal and state governments provide time to plan in order to minimize the ravages that could come with the natural disaster.

* A former Attorney General of Anambra State, Chief Nnoruka Udechukwu (SAN) has called for a coroner’s inquest to ascertain the cause of death of a man, Toochukwu Onyemelukwe, who was killed by a mob in the state. Udechukwu, who addressed journalists in his chambers in Awka, the State capital, said the deceased Mr Onyemelukwe was on 30th day of November 2021, killed violently by a mob over accusation of stealing. The incident happened at Enugwu Village, Nanka Community of Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

* Anambra State Government through the state ministry of health, has commenced a five-day residential training for Tuberculosis, Bruli Ulcer and Leprosy Supervisors in the state. ANN gathered that the training, which is ongoing in Awka, has supervisors working in various local government areas, as well as those working at the state level as participants.

* The Anambra state government through Anambra Small Business Agency (ASBA) has introduced a soft business loan package to workers within the state to cushion the harsh economic realities in the nation occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy. This was disclosed during a sensitization meeting organised by the agency held at the office of the Head of Service hall, Chief Jerome Udorji Secretariat Complex, Awka.

* The Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Anambra  Prof. Charles  Esimone has congratulated Dr. Ike Neliaku and  Prof. Prof Kate Omenugha for their emergence as President and member, Governing Council of Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
Esimone , in a statement by the Special Adviser to the Vice Chancellor on Public Relations and Special Duties,Dr Emmanuel Ojukwu  expressed joy and satisfaction over their emergence. Esimone said he  believes that  emerging successful in a hard fought election of PR professionals from all over the 36 states and the FCT was  no mean feat.

* Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR says his administration has a huge agenda of encouraging production for export. Soludo gave the assurance during a Business Roundtable with manufacturers, importers and exporters in Anambra. ANN gathered that the roundtable session was organized to ascertain the challenges facing manufacturers, importers and exporters with a view to solving them.

* The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State has rebutted the claim by the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) that the state government could not conduct Local Government elections in the state because of ligation. The state chairman of APGA, Chief Ifeatu Obi-Okoye had in a recent interview blamed non-conduct of Local Government elections in the state on what he called litany of litigation at the Supreme Court. ANN recalls that the state governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo had at his inaugural speech on March 17,2021 announced that he would conduct local government election in the second quarter of his first term in office.

* The people of Alor community in Idemili South local government area of Anambra state, has commended governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, following the approval of Anambra state government to stop the planned new yam festival in the community by the dethroned Traditional ruler, Mac-Anthony Olive Okonkwo.
The decision of the state government was sequel to the petition by the former President general of the community, Chief Uzoma Igbonwa, to the Attorney-General and commissioner for Justice of the state.

* The Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in Anambra State, Chief Barr. Ifeatu Obi-Okoye, has clarified the status of Transition Committee Chairmen, saying that contrary to insinuations of illegality as being peddled by opposition elements in the state, he has defended the legal status of the TC Chairmen.
Obi-Okoye said section 7 of the Constitution of the federation allowed the State Assembly of every State in Nigeria to make a law making provision for a democratically elected local government chairman.

* Nneka Chidoka Foundation has offered free medical services to over four hundred persons in Onitsha, Anambra State. ANN gathered that the event is the third edition of the Foundation’s medical outreach after it was launched by the former Minister of Aviation, Chief Osita Chidoka on behalf of the family in May 2023 in honor of his mother Late Mrs Nneka Chidoka.
