* Combined team of Operation Clean And Healthy Anambra (OCHA) Brigandage have arrested 14 persons in Okpoko, Ogbaru local government area and Onitsha Commercial town for illegal revenues collections from Keke and bus drivers. Among those arrested were nine street traders blocking the major roads with their goods at River Niger Bridge Head and Owerri road Onitsha against the order of the Anambra state government.
* The opening ceremony of the maiden Solution Community Shield will hold on Sunday 8th of October at Awka City stadium and run till the second week of November. The competition will start in the Local Government levels before getting to the state levels to crown the very best of teams. * The Anambra State Government has been urged to see to the immediate take-off the Cordinated Wholesale Centre, Oba even if it will entail lending a startup capital to the project to rekindle public interest. ANN recalls that Governor Chukwuma Soludo had in 2022 laid the foundation for the Cordinated Wholesale Centre, Oba in line with the National Drug Distribution Guildelines targeted at ensuring more controlled distribution of drugs and ending the dispensation of open drug market which is largely blamed for the circulation of fake and adulterated drugs in Nigeria. Anambra state Chairman, Pharmaceutical Society Of Nigeria, Pharmacist Josephat Obasi made the call during an occasion to mark the 2023 World Pharmacist Day in Awka.
* The Traditional rulers in the 10 communities in the Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State have assured the TC Chairman of Anaocha Local Government Area, Hon Gerald Ikechukwu Ozoh (Mmili) ahead of the successful celebration of Anaocha Festival (ANAFEST) 2023. They gave the assurance at their office at the local government, promising that they will support and mobilize their communities to come out en-masse for the Anaocha festival to hold on Saturday, October 7th 2023 at Anaocha Local Government Headquarter, Neni.
* The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has commenced the distribution of relief materials to 18, 904 households affected by flood in Anambra. Director-General, NEMA, Alhaji Mustapha Ahmed disclosed this in Awka during the distribution of the special national economic and livelihood emergency intervention to 2022 flood victims and vulnerable persons. Ahmed represented by Assistant Director, NEMA,Mr Olusegun Afolayan said that the interventions was to cushion the effect of the flood devastation as well as the economic hardship occasioned by the removal of oil subsidy.
* An Anglican cleric, Venerable Ekenechukwu Nwafor, has charged Christians to work hard to earn their living while abiding by the principles of good Christian living. Ven. Nwafor, who is the Vicar at the Church of The Pentecost (CoP), Awka Diocese, Anglican Communion, gave the advise while delivering his sermon titled: “Wealth Creation in a Challenging Economy: The Christian Perspective,” the Vicar urged Christians to strive to attain financial independence as money is one of the necessities of life.
* A suspected ritualist, Ifeanyi Ezenwankwo has been arrested for allegedly bruitalizing the wife and attempting to bury a day-old baby in Nanka, Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State. The suspect, a native of Nanka was accused by the wife, Ekwutosi Ezenwankwo of serial impregnation of a 16-year old girl and abortion of the babies.
