* Governor Chukwuma Soludo joined thousands of celebrants to mark Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day Service at the Cathedral Church of St. Faith, Awka.

The Independence Day Service, also known as the Interdenominational Church Service, is an annual event that brings together Nigerians of all faiths to pray for the country.

The event featured hymns, prayers, and exhortations from religious leaders and the choir.

Soludo, in his remarks, thanked the organizers of the event, stressing the need for continued prayers for the nation and its leaders.

* A political support group under the aegis of Soludo Ambassadors led by the convener, Hon. Ossy Onuko has applauded Governor Chukwuma Soludo for extending free education in all public secondary schools and implementation of new minimum wage.

Hon. Onuko said Soludo believes that education is a potent catalyst for state development and he had been upgrading and renovating public schools in the state to make the environment conductive for students and teachers so that they will achieve learning goals.

* The National Association of the Nigerian Nurses and Midwifery from the South East, South South and South West have held its regional meeting in Awka, the Anambra State capital.

The event was also used to commission a Midwifery Office in Awka by the Secretary General of the association, Dr. Farouk Umar Abubakar.

Addressing the nurses and midwives, the Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, commended the association for holding the meeting in the state, adding that nurses and midwives are integral parts of the Governor Chukwuma Soludo administration because of the work they do.

The Commissioner explained that Soludo in less than three years in office has employed about 500 nurses, describing it as phenomenal and assured that the current administration in the state will continue to work with the association for enhanced healthcare system.

* Commissioner for Culture, Tourism and Entertainment in Anambra, Mr Don Onyenji has called on the citizens to emulate the principle of social relaxation with community spirit that will give sense of oneness.

Onyenji urged the people to develop open mind in accepting innovations that will show case the rich cultural heritage of Anambra while integrating innovative solutions that highlights the state commitment to creativity and modernity.

Speaking in Awka recently, Onyenji commended the Chief Executive Officer of the Descendants Fortune Investment Limited, Mr Ikechukwu Okafor for keying into the principle of “Think Home Philosophy” of Anambra Governor Prof Charles Soludo.

* The Anambra State Chief of Staff to Governor, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi has commended Professor Chukwuma Soludo for his unprecedented achievement in the education sector in the State.

Mr. Ezeajughi said, Soludo is a courageous, visionary and iconic leader in the history of Anambra State. He commended him for extending free education to public secondary schools, stating that the Governor is making life easy for Ndi Anambra.

He said, the free education policy implementation ripple effect would lead to the significant enrollment of street children into schools, mitigation of enormous financial burdens and measures being taken to cushion the economic hardship on parents and families resulting from the removal of subsidy on petrol by Federal Government.

* The Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC) has hosted a youth empowerment programme in Awka, Anambra State.

The programme focuses on adaptability and Resilience, Customer service skills, Project Management, Time Management, and business planning.

It featured seasoned speakers, practical sessions,. entorship, and a hundred N100, 000 directors’ business grant.

Over 200 youths of Anambra State attended the programme, which aimed to equip the youths with the necessary tools to succeed in today’s competitive business landscape, also to support the growth of the youths.

* The Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption (RoLAC) Programme has pledged to sustain its support to the Anambra State Disability Rights Commission towards ensuring that the law enacted in 2018 is fully operationalized with a bid to achieve inclusivity.

The State Project Coordinator of RoLAC, Josephine Onah, gave the assurance in Awka during a one-day capacity building for justice providers on the provision of legal assistance to persons with disabilities in the state.

According to Onah, the intervention, which is funded by the European Union and implemented in Nigeria by the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IIDEA), seeks to activates Section 9 (1c) to ensure that the Legal Services Department of the Commission is fully operational, while sections 20 and 23 give further justification for the operationalisation of 9 (1c).

* Frontline APC gubernatorial candidate in the forthcoming Anambra Election, Sir Paul Chukwuma has visited the Sickle Cell Orphanage and Underprivileged Home in Agulu.

Sir Chukwuma who is the founder of Olivia University Bujumbura Burundi during his visit which was accompanied by a retinue of advisers, associates and assistants, reassured the children, staff and management of his unwavering support, promising by God’s grace to relocate the Orphanage home to a more suitable permanent site by December this year.

Responding, National Coordinator of APLSCD, and Director of the home, Aisha Edward Maduagwu, expressed her utmost gratitude towards the Umueri born but widely renowned technocrat and seasoned administrator.

Aisha Edward said that a permanent home and the full implementation of the Anambra State Sickle Cell Law, remains the strongest demands that are critical to the survival of the sickle cell community.

 

* Filling of foundation has reached eighty percent completion on the ongoing Construction work at the two-story building that will house the Solution Innovation District in Awka.

Men of DUTUN company limited were seen filling the foundation of the building as others were removing sand from some parts of the project.

Speaking on the development, the site manager, Engineer Olaoluwa Abatan said that the work which started at the end of June will be completed in eight months, saying that they are working according to the specification of the design.

Engr. Abatan revealed that the Solution Innovation District would bring about a turning point in technology innovation especially for the youths of the state, appreciating Governor Soludo for giving them the opportunity to work for Ndi Anambra.

 

* Electorates in Nnewi North who trooped out en masse has commended Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission and the security agents deployed to Nnewi North for the conduct of the LG elections
