# Anambra State Government has advised the Traditional Ruler of Abba community in Njikoka LGA, Igwe Leonard Nwankwo Eze, to desist from act capable of breeding crisis in the community.

In a letter dated 29th August and signed by the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Mr. Tonycollins Nwabunwanne, the government noted a receipt of complaint of total disregard to the procedural and conventional arrangement which involve the stakeholders of the villages in the selection/appointment for the conferment of chieftaincy title (Ichie) in Abba.

Despite the Commissioner’s directive in the meeting with the President General and some stakeholders of Ire village held on 22nd July 2025, where it was resolved that the conferment of chieftaincy title (Ichie) should be done in line with the conventional arrangement; since there is no written and approved Chieftaincy constitution for Abba community.

# The local government Chairman of Njikoka, Barr. Chinedu Ononiba, has expressed deep appreciation to the Searites Foundation for its Annual Programme and Award for Excellence in the Igbo Language, held in Abagana.

The initiative, which recognizes outstanding pupils and students in public schools, is part of a broader effort to revive and preserve the Igbo language and heritage among the younger generation.

In his address at the event held at Chime Hall, Abagana, Hon. Ononiba praised the foundation for using education as a vehicle to reinforce cultural pride and academic motivation.

The Mayor emphasized the importance of such grassroots efforts in building a stronger and more culturally conscious society. He described the awards as a timely intervention to counter the declining use of the Igbo language and urged parents, schools, and communities to encourage their children to embrace their mother tongue both at home and in school.

Barr. Ononiba also endorsed the Private Public Community Partnership (PPCP) approach championed by Governor Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, stating that such collaborations between government, private individuals, and community stakeholders are vital for inclusive and sustainable development.

# Anambra State Police Operatives attached to the Awada Division, has rescued a man who attempted to commit suicide by climbing a power transmission high-tension pole situated behind Grace of God Mission, off NEPA Road, Awada.

Upon receiving the distress information, the operatives swiftly mobilized to the scene, cordoned off the area to prevent danger, and controlled the large crowd that had gathered.

According to SP. Tochukwu Ikenga,
Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, after several minutes of persuasion by the Police and some concerned members of the public, the man eventually climbed down safely.

He was immediately taken into protective custody at the station, where he identified himself as Mr. Okwudili David Onyiba aged 28 years.

# The fifth annual August meeting of the Mbada Women Association of Wazobia FM Onitsha, was held with a call mothers to always play their role in societal development.

This year’s edition was held at the Shanahan Hall, Holy Trinity in Onitsha, with the theme “Women Wey Balance,” focusing on capacity building for women, helping in family growth.

A guest speaker at the event, the lawmaker representing Onitsha North constituency One in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Mimi Ifeoma Azikwe, highlighted the struggles Nigerian women face, calling for increased empowerment for them to ensure a women-friendly society where no one is left behind.

Azikwe advised women to make use of the opportunities around them, reminding them of the need to build their capacity and not wait for their husbands or spouses to do everything for them.

# Idemili South mayor Dr. Amaka Obi has hosted Anambra Central Traditional Rulers Council as they held their meeting in the Idemili South Traditional Rulers Council Chamber.

During the meeting, the Mayor appreciated the fact that the revered royal fathers recognized their modest efforts towards making Anambra State more livable and prosperous.

” Their words of encouragement and commendation serve as great motivation for us to remain steadfast in delivering good governance at the grassroots level.

” I remain committed to strengthening partnerships with our traditional rulers, knowing that their wisdom and influence play a vital role in driving progress. Together, we shall continue to build Idemili South and contribute meaningfully to the collective growth of Anambra State’ Obi remarked.

# Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu has directed that the man who attempted to commit suicide by climbing a power transmission high-tension pole situated behind Grace of God Mission, off NEPA Road, Awada, should undergo proper medical and mental health evaluation.

The Police boss further assured that the Command will provide the necessary support to ensure the victim’s well-being.

The Command appeals to members of the public to always seek lawful and peaceful solutions to personal challenges, and to reach out to family, friends, or relevant support groups in times of distress.

# Over 50, 000 tipper drivers with voters’ cards under the auspices of Solution Tipper Drivers of Anambra have pledged their total submissions and unwavering support to Prof. Chukwuma Soludo as the state prepares for the November 8th governorship election.

The tipper drivers who disclosed that other governorship candidates have been fighting tooth and nail to woo them over, told newsmen that it is Governor Soludo that they would cast their votes for because he has saved them from Incessant visits to mechanic workshops with good road network across the state.

The tipper drivers who made their positions known through the Onitsha Zone Chairman Comrade Chukwuebuka Unekwe, said tipper drivers have resolved that Soludo will return for a second term in office because even the blind, deaf and dumb and everyone could see that Olu-Atuegwu has done marvelously well in his first term and as such deserves another chance for continuity and consolidations.

# One of seven candidates vying for the Vice Chancellor position at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Prof. Chike Osegbue, has urged the National Industrial Court of Nigeria to void Prof. Kate Omenugha’s appointment as VC, deeming it unlawful.

In a suit numbered NICN/ARJ/275/2025, Osegbue seeks to be declared the rightful VC, claiming he topped the Governing Council’s recommended list of three candidates.

Osegbue argues that Omenugha’s appointment violates COOU’s 2014 Law, specifically Ordinance II(4)(d) and Statute VI(1), which mandate appointing the highest-scoring candidate or the second or third as recommended by the council.

He seeks a court ruling on whether Soludo has the authority to bypass the council’s recommendation and appoint Omenugha in violation of the 2014 COOU Law.

# While reaffirming their confidence in the Solution Government, Ayamelum youths have declared 100% loyalty and support to Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s re-election.

The youths also pledged readiness to partner with the governor in delivering the Solution Agenda and building a more liveable and prosperous State.

“We wish to brief the public on our collective position concerning the leadership of our dear Governor and to state clearly our stand.

“This has become imperative following the watery accusations emanating from some individuals in Ayamelum. Their Spokesperson, Nweke stated.
