* The traditional ruler of Umuawulu Igwe Joel Egwuonwu has expressed belief in the ability of the state to excel beyond its present capability. In a statement on the steady growth of the state 32 years after its creation, Igwe Egwuonwu has high expectations in the ability of Governor Chukwuma Soludo to move the state to the next level following the giant strides of his predecessors in office.

* The management of ABU Football Academy, led by its Chairman and Proprietor, Chief Abuchi Christopher Attah, entered a new phase with over 30 players under its care, by signing a memorandum of understanding with them, and in the presence of their parents and guardians.
ANN gathered that the signing of the Four Pages Memorandum of understanding, and the distribution of complete training kits to the players was witnessed by a delegation from the Anambra State Football Association (AnSFA), led by the Chairman, Mr Chikelue Iloenyosi, a former international footballer, graced the event held yesterday at the East-End Hotel, Awka, on a supervisory position.

* The Free Medical Outreach being hosted by the Member Representing Nnewi-North, Nnewi-South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency; Hon. Uchenna Clement Nwachukwu Eleodimmuo,MHR is underway at Ozubulu Referal Health Center in Ekwusigo Local Government Area. The Free Medical outreach will move to Nnewi-South and take place between the 6th-8th of September 2023 and later to Nnewi-North between 12th-14th of September 2023. * A man whose identity is yet to be ascertained was swept away by flood at the Oye Nimo market in the Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State. A source who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the man mistakenly stepped into a drainage at the front of the market during a downpour and was carried away by the flood.

* The Director General of South East Governors’ Forum, Uche Ekwunife, CON, congratulates Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, CON, representing Anambra South Senatorial District, on the occasion of his 52nd birthday anniversary.
Ekwunife describes Senator Ubah as a brother, famous businessman, courageous and grassroots politician who has etched his name in the hearts of his constituents, adding that the lawmaker’s commitment to the well-being and development of his constituents deserve commendation.

* The attention of the Anambra State Government has been called to a viral video of public misconduct of two personnel of the Unified Hybrid Enforcement Team (UHBET) acting on behalf of the Anambra State Internal Revenue Service (AiRS). ANN gathered that in the said video, the UHBET personnel were seen dragging a citizen, identified as a commercial transport operator, out of his vehicle and driving away in the same vehicle.

* The management of Solution Football Club of Awka, Anambra State has announce her screening exercise for recruitment of players for the 2023/24 football season. ANN gathered that the week-long screening exercise will hold from Wednesday, 6th to Wednesday, 13th September 2023 at the Awka City Stadium, Awka, Anambra State by 7am each day.

* The Anambra State governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, has confirmed the receipt of N2 billion from the Federal Government for various interventions to mitigate the harshness of the fuel subsidy removal on citizens. Soludo while speaking in Awka, the state capital in what looked like a rebuttal to the opposition’s allegation that he had received N5 billion from the federal government as palliatives for the the people of the state, Soludo said he had so received only N2 billion out the N5 billion announced by the federal government to have been allotted to each state of the federation.

* The Stakeholders of Onitsha South Local Government Area of Anambra State have decried the sudden transfer of the former Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Fegge Police Station, CSP Rabiu Garba. In the statement issued by the stakeholders, they said that they would miss Rabui Garba, a Chief Superintendent of Police ( CSP), who has been the DPO of Fegge Police Station for the past 9 years.

* The Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics), Paul University Awka, Anambra State, Professor Chinyere Stella Okunna has urged journalists not to rely solely on artificial intelligence for news gathering and reporting. Okunna, who is the first female Professor of Mass Communication in Nigeria, disclosed this in a paper co-presented with a lecturer in the department of Mass Communication, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Dr Henry Duru, at one day training workshop for journalists on reporting in a treacherous and insecure environments.
