# The Mayor of Njikoka LGA, Barr. Chinedu Ononiba has extolled the church for giving the youth sense of belonging through the creation of Catholic Youth Organization (CYON), the platform that stimulates youth to organize, lead, serve and pray with discipline, value, and faith.

Hon. Ononiba made this known while addressing Catholic Youth Organization of St Mary’s Church Nimo. He swiftly urged them to keep their faith alive and strong through service to God and humanity for more united, prosperous, and peaceful society.

The local government boss assured the youth of his continued support to initiatives that would impact positively in them . He noted that his government was passionate about youth education and empowerment and would continue to give Njikoka youth every necessary assistance.

# The lawmaker representing Awka South one Constituency at the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Henry Mbachu,
has dumped the Labour Party (LP) and joined the Young Progressive Party (YPP).

Mbachu in a video broadcast announcing his defection said that his decision was reached after careful consideration arising from his assessment of the YPP Governorship candidate, Sir. Paul Chukwuma and his manifesto, which he said best expresses his desire for a new Anambra State.

# The members of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Dunukofia LGA were thrown into jubilation following a gift of the new Sienna Bus to the Party by the Mayor of Dunukofia Bar. Chijioke Ozumba

The Sienna Bus is one of the vehicles donated by Prince Engr. Arthur Eze to the Dunukofia Local Government Council, for Governor Soludo’s November 8 re-election bid.

The Mayor handed the vehicle to the Chairman of APGA, Dunukofia LGA, Chief Patrick Emeka Okonkwo, while he noted that the vehicle is to aid the campaigns and ease movements throughout the electioneering process, and as well non-returnable thereafter.

# The 2025 Leadership Programme of the Worldwide Organization for Women (WOW) Africa has ended in Awka, Anambra State capital with participants mainly secondary school students being urged to return and make lasting positive impacts in their respective spaces.

The Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Organization, Chief Mrs. Carol Ugochukwu, gave the charge at the programme’s closing described the teens as “future leaders.”

Represented by the South-east Coordinator of WOW Africa, Mrs. Ethel Eruchalu, Ugochukwu noted that the leadership programme, which began in 2022, has grown stronger with each edition.

She praised keynote speaker Daniel Fadumo, whose research and success formula she said deeply impacted the students.

Ugochukwu urged participants to live by the lessons they had learned and ensure their lives positively shape their generation.

# Residents and stakeholders of Awka Ward 8 have pledged their support for Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s second-term bid.

The residents made the pledge during the commissioning of the rehabilitated Book Foundation Road/Esther Obiakor Boulevard in Agu-Awka, Anambra State.

The project, executed by Anambra State Government through Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA) led by the Managing Director Dr. Ossy Onuko had community leaders, transport operators and political stakeholders in attendance.

# Dunukofia Mayor, Barr. Chijioke Ozumba has held a strategic meeting with the female wing of Ifezulumba Foundation, where he charged the over 300 women gathered in Ebeogidi Hall, Ukpo, to help in building a safe, livable and prosperous society by proper raising of the children.

The women, during the meeting also unanimously resolved to give firm support to Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his second term bid, and maximum number of votes to APGA come November 8, 2025.

# Anambra State House Committee on Public Accounts at plenary, presented their report on the 2024 Audited Account of the Anambra State Government.

This report is a significant step towards promoting transparency and accountability in governance. The audited account will undergo further legislative scrutiny, ensuring that public funds are utilized efficiently and effectively.

The House Committee on Public Petitions, Hon. Obi Nweke also presented three reports, addressing critical issues such as abuse of office, extortion, and threat to public safety.

Mbachu who dumped the Labour Party for the Young Progressive Party maintained that Chukwuma’s candidacy appeals to the youths and has a compelling vision and plan for Anambra State which is comparable to none else.

Mbachu also assured his constituents that the YPP is their best option in realising their collective interest. “I am here this day to declare to you my defection from the Labour Party to the YPP. This decision is made on the foundation of a carefully thought-out way for the good people of Awka and Okpuno, with the best interests at heart.

# The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the November 8 Anambra State election, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, has promised to prioritize security, economic growth, and community development if elected.

Speaking during a visit to Ichida in Anaocha Local Government Area, Ukachukwu assured residents that his administration would “hit the ground running” from day one to reposition Anambra as a leading state in Nigeria.

He pledged to give community leaders, youth groups, women’s associations, and party supporters a strong voice in governance, stressing that every citizen would be an equal stakeholder in his administration.

Ukachukwu also outlined plans to leverage the state’s abundant gas deposits in Ayamelum and other areas to improve power generation and distribution, describing electricity as key to industrial and economic transformation.

On infrastructure, he promised to rehabilitate and dualize the road linking Nnewi South, Anaocha, and Njikoka LGAs, with Ichida as the central hub, to ease movement and boost commercial activities across the three councils.

He further vowed to revolutionize agriculture by building sustainable value chains to create jobs, ensure food security, and reduce youth restiveness.

Earlier, the traditional ruler of Ichida, Igwe Charles Ezeudogu, described Ukachukwu as “a worthy son of Anaocha” who has been a pillar of support to many Anambra youths, families, and businesses over the years. He assured him of the community’s backing in the governorship race.

The community’s youth leader, Mr. Chukwuemeka Ezenwaka, also pledged full support, citing Ukachukwu’s track record as a youth-friendly investor. “We will not be voting for party symbols; we will be voting for Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu,” he emphasized.
