* Launching of beams on Ezee River Bridge Project along the Ozubulu – Atani road has been completed.

The road which is 11.3 kilometers has one bridge at Ezee River, Akwa Ozubulu where work is currently progressing.

The 11.3 kilometers road started from Ozubulu end of Onitsha Owerri road, beside the Ekwusigo LGA to Atani junction in Ogbaru.
* Anambra State Commissioner of Police CP Nnaghe Obono Itam has ordered the immediate detention of some officers over murder of an innocent citizen along Owerri road Onitsha. Preliminary investigation indicates among the patrol team, a police corporal the suspect in the act.

According to the SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer,
Anambra State Command in a statement issued on Wednesday, the CP directs immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department, (SCID), Awka, sues for calm and assures that the Command will ensure a thorough investigation into the case for justice to prevail.

* Comrade Mathew Chukwukebe has cited a branch of his company ‘Global Exhibition Technology Limited’ along the Nwanchi/Aguluzigbo road, Amaezike village, Agulu in Anaocha Local Government Area.

The company was commissioned in a grand ceremony by the Transition Committee Chairman of Anaocha LGA, Comrade Romanus Ibekwe.

Speaking while inaugurating the facility, Comrade Ibekwe who is also the flag bearer of the All Progressives Grand Alliance for Chairmanship election for the LGA in the forthcoming September 28 Election, said coming down to the village to set up a business of that magnitude shows that Anaocha is a true investors’ hub.

* Chief Chekwas Okorie, the founder of APGA, and currently the Chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees, has called for disciplinary measures against Anambra State governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo.

Dr. Okorie who made the call in Abuja during a press conference, narrated how Governor Soludo has been working against APGA under the rightful leadership of Chief Edozie Njoku.

According to Okorie, “It has become abundantly clear that Governor Soludo is determined as he threatened, to sacrifice APGA rather than submit to Chief Edozie Njoku as the National Chairman of our great party,” Okorie regretted.

He further alleged that Governor Soludo only recently sponsored Chief Victor Oye, the former National Chairman of the party, to institute a case against the party.

“The audacity of sponsoring Chief Victor Oye to embark on this latest misadventure at the Court of Appeal is incredible,” Okorie said.

* The Chairman of Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) Magistrate Genevieve Osakwe
has commended Oyi and Ayamelum council areas for making adequate preparations ahead of the September 28 Local Government election in the state.

Magistrate Osakwe gave the commendation during the familiarization visit of the commission to the council headquarters in Nteje in Oyi council area of the state.

Promising that the September 28 election in the state will be a pace setter for other states and one that country will emulate, Osakwe who spoke through the Commissioner in-charge of Information and Publicity, Sir Anthony Nnalue urged the local government areas to provide all necessary requirements needed in the offices in order to have adequate security to protect the equipment that will be used in upcoming election.

* His Eminence Francis Cardinal Arinze says the church, school, government and parents have roles to play in the education of a child for the emergence of well adjusted persons in the society, adding that the early missionaries served as agents of development and advancement.

In his homily during the dedication and commissioning of the main Block complex of St Theresa’s High school umunya, built and donated by an indigene of umunya chief John Agulue based in the United States of America, Cardinal Arinze stating that he is a beneficiary of the sound education provided by the early missionaries.

According to cardinal Arinze, University graduates, who are products of examination malpractice and drug addiction can never be regarded as beneficiaries of holistic education.

* Sir. Paul Chukwuma, the leading candidate for the Anambra governorship ticket on the platform of the APC has frowned at the attack by gunmen in Oba, Idemili South area of Anambra State, which led to the death of a police officer.

Speaking on the development, Mr. James Eze, the spokesman of Sir Paul Chukwuma’s Campaign Council expressed worry over the situation, pointing to the consequences of exacerbating security situation of this nature across Anambra State.

According to Mr. Eze, “This is another sad reminder of the existential challenges facing Ndi Anambra. We stand in unison with all men of goodwill to condemn the attack”, he said, as he condoled with the family of the victim.

* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has approved the replacement of Mr. Chido Obidiegwu as the Managing Director of Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) with the appointment of Mr. Christopher Osemedua Molokwu.

According to a release signed by the Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr.
Christian Aburime, the new appointment takes immediate effect

Mr. Molokwu who hails from Delta State brings to the role a wealth of experience as a seasoned media practitioner and an accomplished broadcaster with a demonstrated history of excellence in the media production industry.

* Dr. Ngọzi Nkiruka Chukwuka, a prolific writer has launched a book titled: Triple Heritage.

While reviewing the book at the event which took place at Amawbia town hall
Ven. Gift Ohakwe said the essence of good parenting jettison simple parenting for moral upbringing in our society.

* The recent resignation of ex-stalwart of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Chief George Moghalu from the party has been described as one that is unconnected with the replacement of the former senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District, late Senator Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah.

A group, GNM Media Centre disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen on Tuesday, in reaction to the viral news and speculations that Chief Moghalu has interest in replacing late Senator Ubah at the National Assembly.

According to the group, the news is not only fake, but gossip from the gutters of crass journalism, as Chief Moghalu never, for one day, nursed feeling to contest for the position left by Senator Ubah.
