# Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, has asked Principals in the state to shun all forms of sharp practices in their various schools.

Prof. Chuma-Udeh urged the school administrators to combine efforts with the government to actualize the objectives of Governor Chukwuma Soludo in the education sector of the state.

The education Commissioner who gave the instruction during the 2025 Principals’ annual retreat organized by the Post Primary Schools Service Commission, PPSSC, at Okpuno, in Awka South Local Government Area with the theme; “Effective School Governance and Policy Implementation in Anambra State”, commended the Principals for their efforts so far in helping to reposition the state education system

She warned that the government of Governor Chukwuma Soludo will not take it lightly with anyone whose actions militate against the vision of the Governor in taking teaching and learning to a global standard.

# A bill for a law to establish and regulate Anambra State Correctional Service, to ensure human and effective management of offenders, to provide for the administration of Custodial and non-Custodial services in the state and for connected purposes have been red for the third time and passed into law at plenary.

After several ammendments at the committee of the whole, from the report of Joint Committee on Judiciary and Justice, and Committee on Homeland and Boundary Affairs, the Majority Leader Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme moved a motion for third reading and passage and was seconded by Hon. Nobel Igwe.

Anambra Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze who presided plenary, appreciated the joint Committee members for their efforts in making sure that the bill was passed.

Rt. Hon. Udeze commended the 8th Assembly, pledging that the legislators
will continue to do their best in making laws that will support good governance in the state.

The bill which has 74 clause, will take effect from September 18th 2025.

# Afamation Movement, a non-governmental organization, founded by Mr. Afamefuna Ezenwafor with the mission to leave the society better than they met it, have gifted nine homeless widows from the villages that make up Ekwuluobia in Aguata Local Government Area, houses (bungalo each.

Speaking while handing over the buildings to the beneficiaries, the Founder of Afamation Movement, Mr Ezenwafor said the gesture is a way to demonstrate practical Christianity and to give hope to the hopeless.

Ezenwafor further explained that they partnered Ositadinma Care Foundation in the project and revealed that the beneficiaries of the second phase will be selected from within and outside Ekwuluobia as he sought for more partners to help them reach the goal.

The movement since foundation has been in the business of rendering help to the indigent in the society through different intervention schemes such as scholarships, provision of shelter for the homeless and numerous others.

# Anambra State Project Lead of the Rule of Law on Anti-Corruption Program, Mrs. Josephine Onah said she is delighted that the Anambra State Correctional Service
bill has been passed into law.

Mrs. Onah while speaking to House of Assembly Correspondents after plenary,
maintained that ROLAC has supported the review and is now waiting for the implementation of the law.

“I commend the legislators for this milestone that they have achieved today. The Speaker has been passionate about this law. It is an effort that is worth commending”. Onah maintained

# Governor Chukwuma Soludo has congratulated the Muslim Ummah in Anambra and across Nigeria on the celebration of Eid el Maulud, commemorating the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

In his goodwill message, Governor Soludo emphasised that this significant occasion is not only a time of joyous celebration but also an opportunity for reflection on the values of peace, love, and compassion that the Prophet embodied.

The Governor observes that the Prophet Muhammad in his teachings urged unity, kindness, and respect for all, regardless of faith or background, thus reminding the Muslim community in this season to embrace the principles of tolerance, understanding, and harmony for a better society. That is why in Anambra State, the government remains committed to promoting an inclusive environment for all residents to co-exist peacefully, no matter their faith.

Therefore, Governor Soludo congratulates all Muslims in Anambra and Nigeria on this happy occasion, praying that this Eid el Maulud brings joy, peace, and prosperity to Nigeria as we all enjoy a blessed and fulfilling celebration.

# The Chairman of Anaocha Local Government Area, Comrade Rome Ibekwe has recounted the various achievements recorded by his administration in the area of meeting health coverage to include enrollment of 2000 persons into the Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme, revamping of old ambulances, and renovation of some health centres.

The Mayor while speaking during the distribution of ₦10m worth of hospital equipment to re-equip primary health centers in the council area, said the medical equipment will go a long way in curbing unnecessary deaths witnessed in rural areas

The local government boss maintained that this milestone will go on to extend the success of the free antenatal and delivery being provided by the Soludo administration.

Equipment donated include mattresses, Muac tape, suction machine, drip stand, BP, sugar and cholesterol testing instruments, anti-shock garments, drip stands, delivery bed, adult and child weighing scales among many others.

# The Chairman of Orumba South Local Government Area, Hon. Shedrack Azubuike, has officially flagged off the modernization project of the historic Orie Akpu Market in Akpu.

The groundbreaking ceremony, which drew the attention of community leaders, traders, and residents alike, marks a new chapter for Akpu and the greater Orumba South region.

In his address, the Mayor emphasized the importance of inclusive development and his administration’s commitment to bringing infrastructure closer to the people.

Residents of Akpu and surrounding communities have expressed enthusiasm and gratitude, describing the project as long overdue. Local traders noted that the modernization will bring much needed dignity, convenience, and increased business opportunities.

# Governor Chukwuma Soludo has inaugurated a four hundred and eighty-nine member Governorship Campaign Council for the November, 8, 2025 election.

Soludo who is the National Leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, performed the function at the APGA regional office in Awka.

The Governor described the membership as people carefully chosen out of the eight point five million ndi Anambra, to help midwife the message of hope to the grassroot.

While appreciating the fore-beares and founding fathers of the party for paying the sacrifice since 2002 when APGA was established, the Governor thanked members of the Council for accepting to serve, describing the party as an idea.

He tasked everyone on the major role which is at the polling units, wards, local government level, and went down memory lane concerning the chequered history of the party, assuring that under the APGA banner, his administration will continue to work and commission projects for the good of the people.
