* The Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim says the Governor Chukwuma Soludo administration will continue to deliver dividends of democracy to Ndi Anambra. Dr. Ibezim disclosed this during the launching of Solution Integrated Community Development Plan by Anambra East local government Area in Otuocha, the headquarters of the Council.

* Five years after his last pastoral visit to the parish, the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev Paulinus Ezeokafor has made another pastoral visit to St. Joseph’s Parish, Agulu, during which he blessed some octogenarians in the parish; Our Lady Queen of Immaculate Conception Grotto, donated by Chief Dr. Mrs Stella Mmaduka; and administered the Sacrament of Confirmation on eighty-eight parishioners.

* The second edition of the monthly health walk popularly known as “Solution Walk For Healthy Living” will come up on Saturday September 9, 2023. Chairman of Anambra State Sports Development Commission Chief Patrick-Estate Onyedum in a Statement on Wednesday said Governor Chukwuma Soludo and his wife, Dr Nonye Soludo would lead the health walk scheduled to take place at the Awka Township Stadium.

* The election petition tribunal sitting at Awka, Anambra State has dismissed the petition filed by High Chief Engr Johnbosco Onunkwor of All Progressives Congress (APC) against Engr Dominic Ifeanyichukwu Okafor of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) on the Aguata Federal Constituency Election held on 25th February, 2023.

* The Transition Committee Chairman of Nnewi North Local Government Area, Engineer Chris Obiora has called for the establishment of building control agency in the state for monitoring of building constructions to ensure that all concerned stick to specifications and standards. He also called for legislation to ensure that any building construction in Anambra would have COREN-registered engineer on ground for proper monitoring.

* Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has said that his administration will only borrow to finance projects that have the capacity to pay back by itself. Governor Soludo stated this while fielding questions from Ndi Anambra during his quarterly ABS Phone-in program called; “Chat With Mr. Governor” with the theme, “Stewardship On Disruptive Change”. The Governor recalled that last year, Anambra State House of Assembly approved for his administration to borrow one hundred billion naira, to which he has not yet borrowed one kobo.

* The much awaited maiden edition of the Anambra Investment Summit (ANINVEST), organised by Anambra State Government kick started on Thursday, 7th September, 2023 in Awka. The Summit which has the theme “Laying the Foundation for a Progressive and Smart Megacity” witness a convergence of investors, entrepreneurs, business leaders, policymakers, and other key stakeholders from all over the world.

* The member representing Awka North and South at the House of Representatives Professor Oby Lilian Orogbu was on Thursday September 7, declared winner of the Febuary 25th election by the election petition tribunal sitting in Awka, Anambra State. ANN reports that Hon. Obi Nwankwo of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) filed a petition challenging the victory of Prof. Orogbu of the Labour Party.

* Government of Anambra State hosted the world at its maiden Investment Summit. The Summit which was held at Anambra International Convention Centre, Awka witnessed the signing of Memorandum of Understanding, MoUs between the state government and thirteen organisations.

* The National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Awka, the Anambra State capital on Thursday September 7, nullified the election of Hon Maureen Chinwe Gwacham of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as the member representing Oyi/Ayamelum Federal Constituency. The Tribunal in a petition filed by Hon. Charles Uchenna Okafor of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) ordered for a re run in eight polling units in Umueje ward, Ayamelum LGA

* Igbakwu community in Ayamelum Local Government Area of Anambra State has called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to disband the Homicide Investigation Teams at the Criminal Investigation Department of Anambra State Police Command Awka, and that of Zone 13 Police Command Ukpo, also in Anambra State for allegedly mishandling and attempting to cover up the murder of their son, Chief Daniel Mbanefo, aged 70. The community also rejected autopsy result from the Police command, and appealed to the IGP to constitute an independent investigation team to conduct another autopsy on the corpse of Chief Mbanefo, who was allegedly murdered by a member of the community, Mr. Sunday Uyammadu; said to have been terrorizing the community.
