* Anambra State Head of Service, Barrister Okwy Igwegbe, has charged workers in the state to distinguish themselves in their areas of assignment; for them to be recognized and rewarded. Barrister Igwegbe, who gave the charge at the end-of-the-year party organized by the state Ministry of Lands at its headquarters in Awka, commended the Commissioner in charge of the ministry, Professor Offornze Amucheazi, for reforming and improving service delivery in the ministry. She explained that part of her plans for the state workforce is to reward hard work, which she noted that the Lands Commissioner is already implementing, noting that the negative perception of people about the ministry has changed since Professor Amucheazi took over administration of the ministry.

*Anambra State Governor’s wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo, has called for sharing of love, especially with those that are dealing with life’s challenges. The Governor’s wife stated this while hosting kids from an orphanage home to a pre-Christmas party at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia. According to Mrs Soludo, Christmas underlines love as the basic significance of celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, explaining that the season is incomplete if people do not spread love.

 

* It was sheer resentment at Central School Amawbia in Awka-South local government area of Anambra state during an empowerment programme put together by the lawmaker representing Awka-South 2 state constituency, Hon. Pius Chukwuma Okoye, as APGA faithful booed the Deputy Governor Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim over what they saw as careless comments against the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi.

* Traders in the Drug International Market Onitsha, Anambra State popularly known as Ogbogwu were thrown into jubilation as Anambra State Government approved rebuilding  affected shops during the recent fire incident  in the Market. The traders also rained encomium on the President general of Bridge-Head Market, Hon. Chinedu Ezekwuike who laid foundation block for the rebuilding of the shops in the area.

* Anambra State  Commissioner for Tourism, Culture and Entertainment, Comrade Don Onyenji, says that the government is doing the needful to reposition the civil service for efficiency stating that the civil service is a fulcrum on which all government activities revolve and it is also indispensable to the growth and development of any state.

 

* The Inspector General of Police, Mr Usman Alkali Baba has said that police will not spare common criminals who are hiding under agitation to attack Anambra people. He said the agitation for a separate state by those perpetuating criminal acts in Anambra State and also attacking police operatives and other facilities is a smokescreen for criminality. Baba stated this in Amawbia, near Awka, Anambra State, where he commissioned an ultra modern divisional police station, attached with a police barracks for senior police officers of the division.

* Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe, has held its 2022 end of the year interdenominational prayer and service of carols and nine lessons. The annual event, held at the college’s auditorium was accompanied with musical instruments to highlight the birth of Jesus Christ in a glorious atmosphere. The event, officiated by the Chaplain, St Catherine Catholic Chaplaincy of the College, Reverend Father Ben Udeh, was capped with the rendition of Hallelujah Chorus.

* Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo has solicited increased support for the Nigerian Police to confront its dearth of resources challenge.

Governor Soludo stated this when the Inspector General of Police, Baba Alkali Usman, paid him a courtesy visit at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia. Soludo who particularly appreciated the Nigerian Police for their roles inspite of all the challenges praised the Police in Anambra saying that they have been top notch in terms of their responsibilities, together with the other security agencies in the State
