US President Donald Trump declared Saturday that American forces are prepared to eliminate Iran’s “terrible leaders” amid ongoing airstrikes on the Islamic Republic, while calling on ordinary Iranians to overthrow their government once the attacks conclude.
The remarks came during a live broadcast from the White House, as Trump framed the military action as essential to neutralise threats from Tehran. “Our objective is to defend the American people by eliminating threats from the Iranian regime, a vicious group of very hard terrible people,” he said.
Trump directly addressed Iranians, urging them to act decisively. “When we are finished, take over your government. It will be yours to take. This will be probably your only chance for generations,” he stated.
He also issued a stern warning to the population to seek shelter during the bombardment and emphasized preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. “Iran must never be allowed to have nuclear arms,” Trump added.
The US leader’s comments follow reports of coordinated strikes by American and Israeli forces on Iran’s capital, escalating a long-standing confrontation over Tehran’s nuclear ambitions and regional influence.
Iranian officials have not immediately responded to Trump’s statements, though state media denounced the attacks as aggression.
