US President Donald Trump has threatened Iran with “hell” unless it reopens the Strait of Hormuz to international shipping, warning that continued closure of the vital waterway would trigger harsh consequences.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Trump said the United States would not tolerate any disruption to global oil flows through the strategic chokepoint.
“If the Strait of Hormuz isn’t opened, there will be hell for Iran,” he said.
He added that American forces were ready to act decisively to restore safe passage for tankers.
The warning comes amid ongoing US-Israeli military operations against Iran and repeated Iranian threats to block the strait in response to attacks on its territory. No immediate reaction was issued by Tehran.
