UAE Reports Intercepting Iranian Missiles and Drones, Six Dead in Attacks

The United Arab Emirates has reported intercepting nine ballistic missiles and 33 drones launched from Iran on March 14, with the latest strikes killing six people and injuring 141 others, including nationals from multiple countries.

In a statement posted on its official X account, the UAE Ministry of Defence said its air defence systems had engaged the threats as part of a sustained pattern of attacks described as “the onsets of the blatant Iranian aggression.”

It added: “UAE air defence systems on 14th March engaged 9 ballistic missiles and 33 UAVs launched from Iran.”

Since the escalation began, the ministry reported intercepting a cumulative total of 294 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles and 1,600 UAVs.

The statement confirmed: “these attacks have resulted in 6 fatalities of Emirati, Pakistani, Nepali and Bangladeshi nationals” and “141 minor to moderate injuries” among residents and workers from more than 30 countries, including Nigeria.

The ministry said the armed forces remain “fully prepared and ready to deal with any threats” and would “firmly confront any attempts to undermine State security.”

The incident forms part of the wider regional conflict that intensified after US-Israeli strikes on Iran in late February.
