The Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District, Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah has reassured his constituents that he would not relent in putting in efforts that would not only support the sports sector but would also encourage the youth and various communities to always organize sports events in their various localities.
Senator Ubah made the remarks during the final match of the 2023/2024 Umuanuka Otolo Unity Cup Tournament held at the field of St Peter’s Catholic Church, located in his community, Umuanuka Otolo Nnewi.
Angel Network News reports that Umuezu kindred emerged the champion of the tournament by defeating Umuezeomodo kindred by two goals to one. The final match was preceded by the third place match, which ended in favour of Umuko kindred as they defeated Ezenkwa kindred by one goal to nil.
The lawmaker while speaking stated that the sports sector does not only contribute immensely to youth development but also contribute to the sustenance of unity in various communities, and he would always do the needful to ensure that the sector regularly receive needed support in Anambra South Senatorial District.
Ubah who was accompanied by the Director-General of Ifeanyi Ubah Foundation; Chief Vin Onyeka, the Chairman of Afaigboefuna Solidarity; Chief Ernest Otugo and some stakeholders also appreciated the Anuka Progressive Union under the leadership of Mr Luke Metuh for sustaining programmes that further unite the community and develop the youth.
He also appreciated ndị Umuanuka for their continuous support and reassured them that he would always do them proud by engaging in activities that will facilitate the development of various parts of Anambra South Senatorial District.
Responding, the President-General of Anuka Progressive Union, Mr Luke Metuh disclosed that the tournament was part of activities organized by ndị Umuanuka through their leadership to strengthen their bond and unity, and develop their youths. He also appreciated Senator Ubah for his developmental efforts in the community and reassured him of their continuous support.
