In what can be described as a consistent passion for community development, Chief Engr. Dr. Kizito Nnamdi Onunkwo has gifted Uhuana Achalla Umuchu an asphalted 5 kilometers road to ease the challenges faced by the indigenes.
According to the Isi Obi Achalla, Chief Dr. Emmanuel Nnopu, the people of Uhuana Achalla have suffered untold hardship in navigating the road from St. Paul’s Catholic Church Achalla to Ikpa Uruo where he said most of the agricultural produce of Achalla are cultivated.
Chief Dr. Nnopu, who is the maternal uncle to the benefactor, Chief Engr. Onunkwo, expressed joy that the developer remembered his mothers’ family who have had so much hard times evacuating their produce from Uhuana farmlands, describing Achalla Umuchu as the food basket of Aguata Area Council.
The Chairman of Uhuana Achalla Umuchu, Ogbuehi Patrick Ebubogu commended the think home spirit exhibited by Chief Engr. Dr. Kizito Onunkwo and paid tribute to his elder brother, High Chief Johnbosco Onunkwo for pioneering their community development which the younger illustrious sons of Achalla have emulated.
Also speaking, some community leaders from Uhuana, Double Chief Oliver Asiegbu and Nze Emeka Olebunne appreciated the donor for wiping their age-long tears, and prayed God to grant him good health and long life to enjoy his wealth.
On his part, the elder brother to the benefactor, High Chief Johnbosco Onunkwo expressed delight that God has answered his prayers by bringing up a worthy successor in the family of late Sir Simeon Onunkwo who married from the royal family of Nnopu in Uhuana Achalla Umuchu, asking God to help in making the road to bring more unity, progress and long life in Achalla.
Responding, the benefactor, Chief Engr. Dr. Kizito Nnamdi Onunkwo extolled his elder brother for leading his siblings in the right direction, promising to extend the road to Ikpa Uruo in no distant time.
Others present at the commissioning were the Parish Priest of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Achalla, Rev. Fr. Paulinus Ezenwolu; the mother of the benefactor, Lady Marcelina Onunkwo nee Nnopu; the sister, Barr. Mrs Ifeoma Onunkwo-Modebe; among others.
Highpoint was the official commissioning of the 5 kilometres of asphalted road by High Chief Johnbosco Onunkwo.
