A popular dancer and hypeman remains in custody in the United Kingdom after a London court confirmed he faces five sexual offence charges, prompting caution among other entertainers planning trips abroad.
Iweh Odinaka, known as Poco Lee, is charged with one count of attempted rape, two counts of rape and two counts of assault by penetration, Snaresbrook Crown Court said.
The case is listed for a plea and trial preparation hearing on September 15. A reporting restriction is in place to protect the identity of the complainant.
Poco Lee travelled to Britain for the Davido and Friends concert at Crystal Palace Bowl on August 14. He has been held on remand since his arrest.
His management said the allegations do not constitute proof of guilt and urged the public and media to allow the legal process to run its course. The team also rejected circulating claims of drink-spiking, stating they were unrelated to the charges before the court.
“Allegations are not evidence of guilt, and no conclusions should be drawn until the matter has been heard and determined through the appropriate legal process,” the management said in a statement.
The development has sparked discussion within Nigeria’s entertainment industry. Singer Okokowa Jerry, known as Koko Pee, shared a video introducing what he called “intention forms” and “consent forms” ahead of a planned UK show, saying they were meant to document voluntary engagement and emphasise consent.
Fans also warned streamer Carter Efe and singer Portable, both currently in Britain, to exercise care in their interactions, citing Poco Lee’s case.
Poco Lee has not been convicted of any offence. The charges remain allegations to be determined by the courts.
