Umuchu Community Association of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, UCAS to Construct three Solar-driven Water Boreholes in Umuchu.

As part of the ways to bring development in the grassroots, the Umuchu Community Association of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, UCAS, in association with Umuchu Improvement Union Representative Assembly, UIURA has taken up the construction of three Solar-driven sustainable water borehole projects that are sited in the three quaters of Umuchu, comprising Ihite, Amanasaa and Okpu na Achalla.

The three-in-one project worth about 33 Million Naira is financed by UCAS as endorsed by the leadership of UIURA led by Hon. Ifeanyi Emegwa (Equity).

The project, according to the Chairman of UCAS, Double High Chief Oliver Asiegbu (Ogaranya n’Umuchu) is envisioned as a practical spirit of Akuluouno in which Umuchu Indigenes residing in Great Britain and Northern Ireland have decided to bring home their wealth so that their kiths and kins can also benefit, adding that with good houses and asphalted roads, life is incomplete without water, assuring that the association will mobilize the contractors immediately.

Also speaking, a member of the Water Project Working Committee, Chief Martin Ikebudu McAnyaora and the Patron of UCAS, Chief Martin Anozie noted that their members raised the project funds through tokens, levies and donations to add to Umuchu community development and make Ndi Umuchu have a better life.

On their parts, the contractors handling the project, Engineers Onyeka Offor and Egbuonu Uchegbunam thanked UCAS for founding them worthy for the projects, and promised to deliver water for Ndi Umuchu in a few days.

Responding, the President General UIURA, Hon. Ifeanyi Emegwa expressed joy with the three water boreholes being constructed simultaneously in the three quarters of Umuchu by UCAS, and urged other association’s to emulate them in supporting the various people oriented projects that the UIURA has mapped out in Umuchu, charging the people of Umuchu to take ownership of the projects when completed.

The private donors of the lands for the water boreholes, Mr. Sunday Uchendu, and Nze Ugochukwu Anulunkor noted that they keyed into the project in the spirit of Umuchu First mantra, promising not to go back on their words.

Chairman of works in Umuchu, Nze Chukwudi Okafor, and some representatives of the benefitting villages, among others who witnessed the event equally gave their blessings to the people oriented project for Ndi Umuchu, and assured that they will safeguard the project.

Commissioning of the three projects, prayers with kolanut, and signing of the contract papers featured.
