Forty-three students have been presented with scholarship awards worth of N100,000 by Nnamdi Azikiwe University Alumni Association (NAUAA).
Angel Network News (ANN) reports that
the awards, covering tuition fee are renewable as long as the recipients meet the criteria each session till graduation.
The event held at the Chisco Institute was the NAUAA maiden scholarship award ceremony in fulfilment of the vision collectively unveiled by the association on June 13, 2025.
Speaking at the scholarship award ceremony, Anambra Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh said the scholarship award to deserving students was an opportunity to impact on the revolution of the society.
Chuma-Udeh charged the recipients to be useful to the society and regard themselves as debtors, who must someday, replicate the event.
“We came back home to inform you that you that being a beneficiary of this day, you have become a debtor who must one day pay your debt.
“We are doing it because we want a continuity of nature and impact on the people who will revolutionalize tomorrow,” she added.
Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Prof. Bond Anyaehie commended the alumini for the program, charging others not to wait for opportunities like this to assist the indigent.
In his speeches, Chairman of Orumba North, Hon. Capt. Casmir Nwafor said that such action amounts to making one happy.
Also speaking, Global President of the association, Chief Ikechukwu Umeh disclosed that the awardees were nominated after a thorough screening process.
“The screening process cuts across students nomination from all the facilities, namely Awka, Nnewi and Agulu campuses of Nnamdi Azikiwe University,” Umeh said.
