UNIZIK VC INAUGURATES NEW SUG LEADERSHIP

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Charles Okechukwu Esimone, FAS on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 inaugurated the newly elected Executive Council members of the Students Union Government of Nnamdi Azikiwe University.
Inaugurating the EXCO members led by the President, Comrade Chukwuemeka Anih at the University auditorium, the Vice-Chancellor urged them to discharge their duties in accordance with the rules and regulations guiding their studentship in the University. He urged them to see themselves as servant-leaders and flee from activities that would undermine their integrity and bring the image of the University to ruin.
“I congratulate you all on attaining this feat. This is a serious assignment you are about to embark on. While discharging your duties, consciously make use of your time”, Professor advised.
The Vice-Chancellor further commended the leadership of the Students Affairs unit and the electoral umpire – the UNECO for the smooth conduct of the digitized election.
In his remarks, the Dean of Students Affairs, Professor Chinonso Achebe called on the EXCOs to shun corrupt and sharp practices in discharging their duties. he expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for the support he has shown the unit which has led to a lot of tremendous developments in the unit, citing the latest development of digitized system of handling allocation in the University hostels.
Members of the SUG EXCO inaugurated include Ukoha Augusta Chisom (Vice President), Obiakor David Chuks (Secretary-General), Chuma-Udeh Janefrances Chukwubusomma (Asst. Sec. Gen), Ngene Philomena Chinwendu (Fin Sec), Ani Chibuike Sylvanus (Treasurer), Oguguo Wisdom Chibuike (PRO), Akogwu McDonald Ikechukwu (Dir. Of Socials) and Ezeifera Ikenna Tunechi (Director of Sports).
Sidelines of the inauguration ceremony were the swearing-in ceremony of the Chief Judge of the SUG, Justice Promise Chibueze who in turn swore-in the elected EXCO members; election of principal officers of the Students Representative Council (SRC) led by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Ozota Caleb Ekene and a retreat for the officers.
