It was a terrifying moment at Isu Anocha yesterday, Saturday 16th September, 2023 as the DSS operative engaged in a fierce gun battle with some other men who were in the the uniform of the mobile police force operative and some other unidentified young men with arms such as pump action and cutlasses.
The battle for supremacy was so fierce that the members of the department for state security service were overpowered and outrun resulting to the loss of one of their patrol vehicle which was burnt down at the welcome to isuanocha bridege and one of their personel sustaining a serious injury.
This incident was effected when some concern faction of isuanocha decided to officially welcome the Igwe into community to make a public address and call for a general meeting on Monday.
Recall that for over 18 years, the community has been left without an Igwe till last month on the 19th of August 2023 when a new Igwe emerged after a general election by the entire community and a certificate of recognition issued to him by the state government.
This good and commendable development instead of bringing joy, peace, happiness and progress to the community rather attracted the anger of some rather aggrieved faction in the community who refused to accept the new normal and allow the new Igwe to come into the community to begin to exercise his legitimate leadership authority and roles.
Eye witnesses gathered that one Mr. Festus Onyeagolu and Tony Onyeagolu hired some unknown gunmen who attacked the DSS that was accompanying the new Igwe of isuaniocha to his palace and shut two of DSS and kidnapped one the security men and also burnt of the patrol van. The Igwe’s car was also damaged beyond repair.
It was also gathered that some other persons with the unknown gunmen at the scene of the incident
who are also part of the attack includes; Steven Ibeania, Emeka Maduka, Moses Emebo, Paul Okoye (AKA kojo), Frederick Egwunwa, Man parley Anaene Okoye and Polinus Onyeagolu. Udorji James Oduenyi.
One of the resident who spoke to our eye witness but pleaded for his name to be witheld reported that a similar but rather more terrifying incident had occured few weeks ago but no death or injury was reported.
