US congresswoman seeks immigration freeze on dozens of “third world” nations

Republican Congresswoman Nancy Mace has introduced a bill that would halt immigration from dozens of countries she labels “third world,” accusing them of defying US deportation orders and failing to supply adequate vetting information.

The measure, titled the Third World Immigration Moratorium Act, would bar nationals of the listed countries from entering the United States.

“Done playing games”

Announcing the bill, Mace said: “The American people are done playing games. So are we.”

She charged that many of the targeted nations “have repeatedly refused to cooperate with U.S. deportation orders, failed to provide basic vetting information on their own citizens, and left American communities to bear the consequences.”

“A privilege, not a right”

The South Carolina lawmaker insisted that “Entry into the United States is a privilege, not a right.”

She added: “We won’t stand by while they let America turn into a Third World hellhole.”

The list of countries covered by the proposal and the legislative timetable were not immediately available.
