Why I Am Taking A Break From Politics: Ex-Anambra Gov, Ngige

Senator Chris Nwabueze Ngige, the former Minister of Labour and Productivity and ex-Governor of Anambra State, recently shared his decision to step away from active politics during a tribute event for late Barrister Godfrey Oraegbunam Nwachukwu in Enugu.

Ngige, declining to engage in political discussions with journalists, expressed his intention to remain out of the political sphere until he feels adequately rested.

Reflecting on the life of the late Nwachukwu, who was his brother-in-law, Ngige highlighted Nwachukwu’s influential role in shaping his character and guiding him towards higher education.

He emphasized Nwachukwu’s commitment to truth, simplicity, and exemplary family values, noting his significant impact on his children, three of whom became medical doctors, including a professor and a cardiologist in Texas.

Ngige praised Nwachukwu’s disciplined and industrious life, recognizing his longevity as a testament to a life well-lived at the age of 90. He emphasized Nwachukwu’s positive influence on those around him and the legacy of integrity he left behind.

During the event, Reverend Father Basel Okeke delivered a homily underscoring the importance of living a life of faith and dying in Christ. He lamented the premature deaths often seen in Nigeria due to widespread hardships, urging gratitude for reaching old age amid challenging circumstances.

Father Okeke encouraged celebrating life, regardless of the trials faced, emphasizing the purification of earthly struggles and the significance of passing away in faith. He celebrated Nwachukwu’s achievement of reaching 90 years and underscored the importance of cherishing life amidst societal challenges.
