England women’s national team head coach Sarina Wiegman has been named the 2025 Ballon d’Or Coach of the Year (Women), celebrating her role in guiding the Lionesses to victory at Euro 2025.
Speaking after accepting the award on Monday night, Wiegman joked about a potential dance with Nigerian music star Burna Boy, recalling a surprise appearance by the singer during the Lionesses’ July celebrations at Buckingham Palace.
“If Burna Boy is around, maybe we could do a little bit of dancing too,” Wiegman said, blending her love of football with her admiration for the Grammy-winning artist.
Wiegman’s recognition cements her status as one of the most influential figures in women’s football, having led England to one of its most celebrated tournament victories in recent history.
