Will this New Nigeria be a stillbirth?

Mechanic people in Nigeria with their soiled and torn work clothes make it difficult to easily identify a truly insane man. This is an expression we use in these parts and best describes the difficulty people have to really identify the level of malpractice that has gone down to ensure the outcome of this Nigeria 2023 election favors the elite and not the common man.

The resistance of the elite class is getting more desperate and the drums of revolution from the masses is getting louder as well. There is a foreboding unease spread like a blanket across the polity as many of the video and audio exhibits flying around on the Internet (propaganda and reality alike) scream of gross misconduct on the part of those in power who, obviously, are not willing to relinquish power; instead they will destroy everything.

The people themselves are not smiling. A friend told me that, last night, his wife kept complaining of low BP and rolling on the floor in front of her husband. She even refused him sex last night. The trigger was the many materials, gory as can be, being spread on the social media showing what looks like a wrench of mandate from the common man, by the elites under the auspices of, nay, aided and abetted by the authorities vested with the responsibility on ensuring a free, fair, safe and credible election. As I was waiting for my turn to use the POS machine this morning,  I overhead a certain man who looked in his 40s and responsible saying he wished he had access to bomb, he would blow up everything. A cold chill went down my spine when I heard that. I could hear the pain and frustration in his voice.

And then on TV and elsewhere, I saw where several persons of repute, including a certain international observer saying that the elections were free and fair. Maybe in a few places, but the majority of the evidence flying around say the exact opposite.

Even at the National Collation Centre, I watched this one live on TV; a Labour Party agent stood to contest the figures that had been announced by the Electoral Officer. They had to call for a recess. I heard they later obliged the lady and upgraded the number they had of those that voted for Labour Party. What does that tell you?

And all these talks by the corps members who worked as INEC adhoc staff, of not having log in password to be able to transmit the results at the polling units reek of foul play. I just listened to an audio clip allegedly of a corps member who said he worked for INEC in Rivers State and that he and his colleagues were given fake log in passwords. That explained their inability to upload results at the polling units. Thank God the electorate yearning for a New Nigeria remained civil and did not lynch many of them. I also listened to another audio that sounded like Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers State threatening fire and brimstone if those he gave money among the INEC officials did not play ball. I heard a certain corps member got killed.

What is going on, I ask? I saw the comments of some of my friends who tag along with these power grabbers as they gloat over the stark sub human display that could lead to total anarchy and I shudder. I wish we were more human than this? In as much as I do not totally agree with the excesses of members of Obidient Movement, I understand where they are coming from. I also understand that the external hand holding Nigeria down from taking that leap into self actualization (first world status) is strong and aided and abetted by the elites, the Nze, who always benefit when the land is polluted. How do you explain to them that they won almost all the House of Reps and Senate seats by landslide in the north, east and west but are performing abysmally in the presidential election. Anya saa nni.

It is well, even inside the well. I enjoin all aggrieved to sheathe their swords and obey the law in all their resistances. I enjoin those seeking to hold onto power at all cost to have a rethink. I thank President Mohammed Buhari for the effort he made to make this as credible as can be and enjoin him not to give up. Human management is tough. To manage the black man is tougher. Will this dream of a new Nigeria be a stillbirth? It is in our hands.
