The member representing Nnewi North Constituency at the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Augustine Ike says he is in support of zoning system of government and that it was rotation fomular that made him a legislature.
Hon. Ike while speaking to Angel Network News (ANN) in his office on Thursday after plenary, maintained that
without zoning, he wouldn’t have been member of the 8th Anambra Assembly.
The lawmaker revealed that Rt. Hon. Chukwudi Orizu, who became the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Anazodo and Hon. Nonso Okafor who represented Nnewi North Constituency would have still been lawmakers.
” I have no intention to disrupt the zoning formula. It is a document that has been existing since 1997. It does not need interpretation.
” There is that pain that comes when ever the tenure is coming to an end, but when you understands the system that brought you inn, there’s no need to be politically greedy.
” The system that brought you inn, will be the same that will take you out.
” Rt. Hon. Chukwudi Orizu, who became the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Nonso Smart Okafor and Anazodo would have still been till today, which is not a bad thing. It would have been better because we will be having a ranking member and chairing more sensitive committee that will attract more tangible development to our constituency.
” It is left for ndi Nnewi to sit down and review the documents. They should not review it now that am still serving. The best way to reveiw a document is by proposing a time when it will be done.
“Until that is done , no Nnewi elected person can be presented for reelection and none has happened since 1997”.
“But if they feel that am soo eloquent and decide that i recontest, who am i to say no?”.
“I have a broader plan and that is why am now in a broader political space, and one of those plans does not include coming to drage zoning with ndi Nnewi.
” I have made four projections for myself and am pursuing them keenly”. Hon. Augustine Ike submitted.
