World Cup 2022: Morocco organise 30 more flight to Qatar against clash with France

The national airline of Morocco offers discounted flights from Casablanca to Doha before the historic match versus France.

30 special flights have been scheduled by Morocco’s national airline to transport soccer fans to Qatar in advance of their country’s World Cup semifinal matchup with France.

On Monday, Royal Air Maroc stated that it would run the Tuesday and Wednesday flights from Casablanca to Doha.

Morocco became the first African and Arab team to ever advance to a World Cup semi-final with a dramatic 1-0 victory over Portugal on Saturday.

Youssef En-Nesyri got the only goal in the 43rd minute with an impeccably timed leap to send a thumping header home.

“The exceptional and heroic performance of the national team during the 2022 World Cup will forever be engraved in the memory of Moroccans. A performance achieved thanks, in particular, to the fervour of the Moroccan public, the 12th man,” Royal Air Maroc said in a statement.

“To allow the many Moroccans wishing to support the national team… experience the emotion of the semi final of the World Cup… Royal Air Maroc has set up a real air bridge between Casablanca and Doha.”

The flights will be offered at a promotional rate of 5,000 Moroccan dirhams ($472) for a return journey. The flights were organised in collaboration with Morocco’s football federation and the sports ministry.

The semi-final against France, who defeated England on Saturday, will take place at Al-Bayt stadium in Al-Khor, north of Doha, on Wednesday evening.
