Yoruba Monarch Proposes Constitutional Amendment to Allow Tinubu Third Term

The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdul-Rasheed Adewale Akanbi, has said Nigerians may seek an amendment to the constitution to enable President Bola Tinubu to serve a third term in office.

Oba Akanbi made the remark while addressing journalists on Saturday, arguing that Tinubu’s performance so far justified extending his tenure beyond the current constitutional limit of two terms.

“Nigerians may seek constitutional amendment for Tinubu’s third term,” he stated.

The monarch described Tinubu as a leader whose vision and achievements warranted continued service, adding that the constitution could be reviewed to reflect the will of the people.

He urged Nigerians to focus on good governance rather than rigid term limits, saying the current administration had demonstrated capacity to deliver on key promises.
