AS Roma Coach Jose Mourinho, has while appreciating the Goal-Scoring prowess of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, slammed him for always diving.
Osimhen shortly after scoring a screamer against Roma which ended in a 2-1 win on Sunday evening in Naples, fell to the ground due to what seemed a rough challenge from a Roma player; to Mourinho, the challenge didn’t call for Osimhen to fall and grit.
Soccernet Nigeria Lolade Adewuyi had asked the tactician what was exchanged at the moment he spent with Osimhen on the sidelines when the latter was off the pitch for a treatment.
“I told him, “you scored an amazing goal, but you didn’t need to dive all the time. That’s what I told him. That’s what I think,” Mourinho said.
“He scored an amazing goal. Even from my bench, I almost clapped, because it was an amazing goal.
“He did the same in Rome, he scored an amazing goal in Rome. So for me he’s a fantastic player.
“But I repeat what I told him, he doesn’t need to dive.”
Coach Mourinho had opined that Victor Oshimen was on the same level as former Chelsea legend, Didier Drogba “but Drogba didn’t dive”, he said.
