Anambra state government has intensify efforts towards free flow of traffic especially this festive period.
Deputy Governor Dr. Onyekachi Ibezim while Speaking at the inauguration of volunteers from the 21 LGA of Anambra state on Thursday at the Alex Ekwueme square Awka stated that Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo CFR, led government is determined to make the roads less stressful this festive period.
“This is Yeltide period and a period when our people come home. God has used Governor Soludo to bring back security to the level that we can now move about. We thank all the agencies it’s a work in progress.
“This period is unique and our road is expected to decongest as usual. We need to make the roads free so that people can move freely because free movement also aids security.
“We have structures in place but yours are unique because you people volunteered to help in this process. The way you conduct yourself matters. It’s a field work and punctuality is very important. We need honesty and dedication is vital. No eye service. Every local government has red spots especially Awka, Onitsha, Nnewi, Ihiala, Ekwulobia, Okpoko amongst other areas and more concentration will be paid in those places. The governor wants total orderliness. You are our ambassadors and the pioneers”. Ibezim concluded
Special Adviser to the governor on Security Air Vice-Marshal Ben Chiobi while speaking with ANN in an interview said this is part of the solution efforts led by Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo because every year during festive seasons, the roads are always congested.
Chiobi who is also the cordinator Anambra state joint enforcement team emphasized on the need for people to move very freely on all our roads stating that his is an additional efforts where by all LGA contributed atlist twenty persons each. “We have over twenty hot spots where we have traffic problems and we need to man all this locations’.
MD/CEO Anambra Road Traffic Management Agency (ARTMA) Engnr. Emeka Okonkwo (Konti) told ANN in an interview that the personals from the 21 LGA primary duty is to help decongest Anambra roads during this festive season.
“The roads gets busier this period and with the help of this team, we are hoping to reduce traffic and just like the deputy Governor said whoever does well amongst them stands a chance to been recruited into ARTMA.
