Zamfara Campaign Chief Quits APC, Accuses Tinubu of “Use-and-Dump” Politics

Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa, who served as the Zamfara State Coordinator for the Tinubu/Shettima 2023 campaign, has officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing the president of a “use-and-dump” leadership approach.

Marafa announced his resignation following a two-day consultative meeting of his supporters in Kaduna, bringing together delegates from all 14 local government areas of Zamfara State. The move comes amid growing discontent over what Marafa and his allies describe as persistent neglect and injustice toward their state.

In a communiqué signed by leaders of the Senator Kabiru Marafa Consultative Forum, the group cited escalating insecurity—pointing to Zamfara’s leading position in kidnapping cases nationwide—and alleged political marginalisation as motivating factors for their departure.

Marafa reminded Nigerians that he had assured Tinubu of Zamfara’s support during the 2023 election campaign, even suggesting that the president need not visit the state to secure its votes—a promise he said he fulfilled. However, he lamented that the administration has failed to reciprocate loyalty with meaningful development, offering the state only a Minister of State slot compared to stronger representation for others.

The political faction, representing all 147 wards in Zamfara, has pledged to announce its next move soon, affirming that it would be guided by the broader interest of the state’s citizens.
