The Federal High Court, Abuja, presided over by Justice Ekwo, has sacked Hon Chris Azubogu as the candidate of APGA for 2023 Anambra south senatorial election.

The court went ahead to declare Hon Ben Nwankwo as the candidate of APGA and asked INEC to recognize him immediately.

Delivering judgement, Justice Ekwo said Hon Chris Azubogu is an ignorant lawmaker, who doesn’t know the law.

The court maintained that Hon Azubogu is still a member of PDP as he did not defect to APGA as at the time of the primary on May 27, 2022.

The court wondered why a lawmaker should be so ignorant of the law that he could contest a primary election of APGA while sitting as a PDP lawmaker.

According to the judge, Azubogu must first vacate his seat as an elected member of PDP if he wanted to contest an election in another party.

He chided the lawmaker and nullified his candidature for Anambra south senatorial zone.

It is not certain if Azubogu would challenge the outcome of the judgement at the Appeal Court.
