* The Deputy Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Pascal Agbodike, has applauded the hitch-free election of a new Executive Committee of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) with Chief Ifeatu Obi-Okoye unanimously returned unopposed as the new chairman of the party in the state. Agbodike made the commendation in a press interview on the sidelines of the APGA’s state congress held at Prof Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Centre, Awka, recently.
* Anambra State Commissioner for Homeland Security, Chikodili Anara has been accused by the Indigenous People of Biafra ( IPOB) of being responsible for insecurity in the state. IPOB stated this in a press release on Sunday May 28, 2023 by its media and publicity secretary, Emma Powerful.
* The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) has allegedly sacked Women President General of Ebenebe Town Union, Women Wing, in Awka North Local Government Area, Anambra State, Mrs. Favour Nworah for supporting the Labour Party (LP) candidates in the last election. Nworah was sacked recently, on the allegation that she appeared severally at Labour Party rallies and also wore their vest.
* Ndi Anambra have called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his Vice, Kashim Shettima Mustapha to unite the country through inclusive governance. President Tinubu and his Vice, Shettima took oath of office at the Eagles Square Abuja on Monday, May 29, 2023 in the presence of top dignitaries.
* In line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s policy of making Anambra State a market place for non-oil export, the Anambra State Export Promotion Committee has drawn an action plan aimed at actualising the dream. Hint to the effect was dropped recently by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Samuel Chinedu Ikeh, who also doubled as Chairman of the Committee during the second quarterly stakeholders meeting held in Awka recently.
* Officials of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, ACTDA, led by its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Ossy Onuko, has recovered a massive land proposed for the building of an Ultra-Modern Awka Capital Territory Mechanic Village at Amawbia, Awka South Local Government Area, from land grabbers. Speaking during the exercise, Mr. Onuko, noted that what the agency has done is in firm resolve of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration to rid Anambra State of land grabbers and speculators.
* The Member Representing Aguata 1 Constituency at the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Cater Umeoduagu has been promoted to the rank of Associate Professor (MicroBiology) by Tansian University Governing Council. ANN recall that on August 30, 2019, Umeoduagu bagged his PhD in Environmental MicroBiology at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.
* Anambra State Government has hinted that it would commence the arrest and prosecution of parents and guardians who engage children in street hawking and begging in the state. Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare Mrs Ify Obinabo, made the statement on the sidelines of the celebration of the International Day of Families, in Awka. Obinabo said it would ensure the survival, development and protection of all the children in the state, as well as serve as deterrent to parents and guardians.
* The Traditional Ruler of Awka South Local Government Area, Obi Dr. Gibson Nwosu, has described Ndigbo as light that illuminate the socio -economic activities of Nigeria and as republicans spread across every length and breathe of the country. Nwosu, while receiving in audience the State Director, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Anambra State Directorate, Sir Joseph Uchendu, who paid him a courtesy call in his Palace in Awka, described Igbo nation as the heart beat of the country
