Anambra Assembly Adjourns Plenary Over Lack Of Quorum

Anambra State house of assembly today, Thursday, June 1, 2023 at plenary, adjourned its sitting to Tuesday, June 6, 2023 duo to lack of quorum.

The member representing Ogbaru 1 constituency at the commencement of plenary raised order five, rule six of the house which stated that “the house business will continue with one third of its members in attendance”

“We are not up to ten which is one third. I am moving a motion that this plenary be dis-continued for want of quorum”, Igwe submitted.

Anambra Speaker, Rt. Hon. Uche Okafor called the attention of the sergeant of arm who did the head count, with seven members in attendance.

Majority leader Hon. Pete Ibida moved a motion for adjournment till Tuesday, May 6th 2023. He was seconded by the member representing Anaocha 2 constituency, Hon. Ejike Okechukwu.

Those in attendance were; Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Pascal Agbodike, Majority leader Rt. Hon. Pete Ibida, Deputy majority leader Hon. Emeka Aforka. Member representing Ogbaru 2 Rt. Hon. Somto Udeze.

Others were; Member representing Ogbaru 2 Hon. Nobel Igwe, Member represnting Aguata 2, Ejike Okechukwu and member representing Orumba South Hon. Emma Nwafor.

Former Anambra Speaker and also the Special adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on house of assembly and legislative matter, Rt. Hon. Anayo Nnebe was present at the plenary.
