The Chairman of Idemili South Local Government Area, Hon (Mrs) Amaka Obi on Wednesday August 23, at the Secretariat Ojoto hosted and sponsored widows across the 12 wards of the LGA to a sensitization session on sustainable family peace enhancement.
The sensitization session was in partnership with the United Nations International Peace and Governance Council (UNIPGC) team led by Amb Mrs Amaka Ezedioranma, Executive Director UNIPGC.
ANN reports that experts from the UNIPG took time to educate the widows on the sustainability of peace in families . It was highly refreshing and thought provoking .
Undoubtedly, For the widows the changing nature of the role in the family, demands for re-equipping them with new knowledge capable of repositioning them for the task of peace maintenance and national unity.
Food Items distributed to the widows including rice, garri and stipends to the widows. This is coming at a time Governor Chukwuma Soludo has announced the Government’s palliatives to unburden the people of the harsh economic conditions.
Idemili South Council boss in her remarks maintained that It’s a clarion call to doing more and more with little. Mrs Amaka Obi appreciated the UNIPG for their partnrship. She express gratitude to Governor Soludo for his endless love and passion towards the women in the state.
High point of the program was when the widows amidst tears poured encomiums and prayers on the Idemili South mayor.
