* Peasant farmers at Ozzu Village of Ndikwuenu Community in Orumba South Local Government Area, Anambra State, have begun to count their losses following a renewed invasion of their farmlands situated at the Mamu Forest Reserve, by one Mr Onyeka Onwura, a native of the area.
ANN gathered that around the Ozzu Axis of the Mamu Forest Reserve, heavy excavation work is ongoing with an earthmover which also affected farm crops, palm trees among others.
* As part of efforts to save Igbo Language from extinction, Abagana Youth Association, Lagos Branch has honoured best students in Igbo language. The award ceremony, held at Abagana Civic center in Njikoka LGA of Anambra state, was the first of its kind in the community. It drew all the best students in Igbo Language from all the public secondary and primary schools in the community.
* Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, joins Nigerians to extend his warmest congratulations to the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON, on the occasion of his 57th birthday anniversary. Soludo acknowledges the significant contributions of Vice President Shettima to the growth and development of our beloved country, as a former state governor, senator and now vice president
* The people of Amawbia community in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State have vehemently rejected and protested against what they described as ‘land grabbing’ and ‘land misuse’ by the authorities of the Nigerian Correctional Service in the State. The community members expressed their grievances on Saturday while protesting at the site where the Nigerian Correctional Service (formerly known as the Nigerian Prisons Service) is currently erecting a magnificent shopping mall on the land donated to them for prison-related projects and use.
* The people of Amako village Nanka in Orumba North have declared that they are still part and parcel of Nanka patriotic Union. The people made this known during a press briefing in the village following the recent leadership tussle which led to the formation of a parallel leadership by a group in the village. The Secretary General of Amako Nanka village, Chief Patrick Ofobuzo and a stakeholder in the village, Chief Isaac Ezeme who described the people of the area as peaceful and law-abiding wondered why a group of people from the village will be working against the Nanka Patriotic Union under the leadership of Reverend Canon Ifeanyi Ezike and the traditional ruler of the community Igwe Godwin Ezeilo.
* The Anambra State Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr Patrick Agha Mba in continuation of OneYouth TwoSkills Youth Empowerment Scheme Master Trainers screening interacted with the master trainers ahead of the next phase of the training. He reiterated that in view of Anambra State Governor, Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo passion and vision for Anambra Youths, it is important that Master Trainers understand clearly what is expected of them. He commend prospective Master Trainers to give their all to help the expectant participants/trainees make best of the opportunity the state government is providing.
* It was an atmosphere of joy in Umuoba Anam community as the misunderstanding between the community and Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC was brought to an end courtesy of the Transition Committee Chairman of Anambra East Local Government Area, Dr. Anselm Onuorah. ANN gathered that for over five years now, Umuoba Anam community was without light due to some unresolved issues the community had with the EEDC, and since assumption of office as the TC Chairman of Anambra East, Dr. Onuorah waded into the issue which resulted to the amicable resolution of the matter and electricity light was restored in Umuoba Anam.
* An Anambra based industrialist, Chief Innocent Chukwuma, the owner of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM) has extolled Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s passion for local brands and for the development of Anambra State and Nigeria at large. Chief Chukwuma speaking in his county home, Nnewi acknowledged that supporting made in Nigeria products will be a major game changer in upturning the dwindling economic situation in Nigeria.
* President-General of Onitsha, Sir Chike Ekweogwu has advised residents of the commercial city of Onitsha residing or doing businesses along the bank of River Niger to relocate in earnest before the 2023 flood devastations begin. Ekweogwu who specifically mentioned the Bridge Head market, the building materials market, other markets and residential buildings on the bank of the River Niger as the worst hit whenever the catastrophe occurred in the area, emphasized the dire need for them to begin to find refuge in the upland areas early enough to avert catastrophic consequences associated with the deluge
