* Law Students Association of Nigeria, LAWSAN, Southeast Zone Convention has ended the third edition of its zonal convention with a call on law students to become tech savvy to avoid being packed off the digital world. The theme of the convention was “Building Bridges, Navigating the Future of Law” was held in Agulu, Anambra State and had in attendance Law Students from different higher institutions across the southeast region.

* Operatives of the Operation Clean And Healthy Anambra, OCHA Brigade, Taskforce has paraded over 34 suspects charged with different crimes and criminality. Addressing the press shortly after parade, the Public Relations Officer of OCHA Brigade, Mr. Anthony Agbafune  said the agency would make the state uninhabitable for all criminal elements. He said the officers observed that the suspects, who rove the said area in the commercial bus, looked suspicious and that they looked uneasy after driving past the officers.  

* Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has taken a decisive action to address the gully erosion on Nnobi axis of the Nnobi-Nkpor Federal Highway. The road is a major road which connects the entire Onitsha and Idemili to Nnobi, Nnokwa, Nnewi, Aguata and most of Anambra south and the Country at large.

A team of experts from the State’s Ministry of Works, led by the Commissioner, Engr Ifeanyi Okoma quickly mobilized to assess the road’s deplorable condition and came up with a comprehensive remedial plan to address it 

* Red Cap Chiefs in Nawfia community, in the Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, have begged the state governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, to reinstate their traditional ruler, Igwe Chijioke Nwankwo. The red cap chiefs made the appeal during the annual IGU ARO festival of the community held at the palace of Igwe Chijioke Nwankwo on Saturday to herald the consumption of new yam in the area by natives.

* The Anambra State President of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, Comrade Chikwelu Adigwe has reassured their members of his determination to take the union to a greater pedestal. Comrade Adigwe who made this known while speaking to newsmen at the state Secretariat of NULGE in Awka, noted that the executive have made some remarkable achievements, despite the  distractions coming from some elements who would not want the union to grow. 

* As Anambra school children prepare to return to school for the 2023/2024 academic session, it is expected that there would be an influx of parents and students at various markets and streets purchasing learning materials such as books, uniform, shoes etc. A visit by ANN to different educational lines in some markets to ascertain the level of preparedness showed traders had long stock up their shops with learning materials for the new academic session but are recording low patronage. 

* There was pandamonium in Isuaniocha, Awka North Local Government Area (LGA) of Anambra State on Saturday when some suspected hoodlums invaded the town and opened fire on Police  operatives who were on a peace keeping mission  in the area. An eye witness narrated that the hoodlums  came with three  tinted Hilux vehicles, One Lexus 330, three shuttle buses  and a Toyota Corolla car at about four o’clock in the evening .

* Anambra Governor’s wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo says one of the visions of her healthy crusade is to get every Anambra youth on board and see them become leading ambassadors for everything the campaign wishes to achieve. Mrs Soludo stated this during the community youth engagement for her non-governmental movement, Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo, at Orumba North local government headquarters, Ajalli.

* The Dean Faculty of Medicine Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital Nnewi Campus Professor Gladys Ahaneku has called on the citizenry to work on the preservation of their hearts to enhance their longevity.

Delivering her inaugural lecture the 90th of the university titled,”The Human Heart: A Workaholic With Numerous Saboteurs’, listed the cardinal saboteurs to include ignorance,poverty and underdevelopment.

* The Transition Committee Chairman of Orumba South Local Government Area, Prince Neville Uchendu has enjoined Ndi Orumba South both at home and in the diaspora to heed Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s clarion call for home investment by bringing part of their investments down to the state. Prince Uchendu made the call when he visited Ndi Orumba South Welfare Association, Suleja-Abuja.

* Chairman of Anambra State Local Government Service Commission, Chief Vin Ifeanyi Ezeaka, has been honoured with Outstanding Professional Leadership Service Award by Nnamdi Azikiwe University (Unizik), Awka, Anambra State. The award was given to him by the Department of Public Administration, Faculty of Management Sciences, during it 2nd International Conference/Alumni Coverage (HYBRID) of the Department, held at ASUU Secretariat Unizik Awka.
