Anaocha Celebrate Festival, Honors Icons

Anaocha Local Government Council in Anambra State came alive at the weekend with the celebration of ANAFEST2023, a jubilant display of rich cultural tapestry.

Led by Chief Ikenna Okafor (Ide Akwaeze), the festival highlighted the profound cultural heritage and traditions of the Anaocha dianesty.

The occasion also featured the prestigious bestowal of Chiefthancy Titles upon Anaocha’s distinguished sons and daughters, an act of recognition and celebration of their remarkable contributions.

Chairman Ikenna Okafor who emphasized on the festival’s significance, stating that it served as a platform to unite Anaocha’s community, fostering a deeper connection with their roots. 

Okafor encouraged the Chiefthancy awardees, reminding them that their titles symbolize a call to service and an invitation to do even more for their community.

Hon. Gerald Ikechukwu Ozoh, Chairman of Anaocha local government Council, emphasized the festival’s role in preserving the unique culture and heritage of Anaocha dianesty. 

Ozoh passionately expressed that culture and religion are inseparable, each enriching the other. He underscored the importance of upholding Anaocha’s culture, ensuring its relevance and continuity for generations to come.

In a thrilling turn of events, residents of Anaocha were elated as they won a range of prizes in a recent raffle draw event. Among the exciting giveaways were a high-speed Senna car, sleek motorcycles, state-of-the-art refrigerators, and cutting-edge televisions. The event buzzed with excitement as lucky winners celebrated their good fortune, making it a memorable day for Anaocha.

The event featured enchanting Cultural displays by various villages, engaging games, and spirited competitions. There was also melodies of diverse dance groups and masquerades, showcasing the essence of Anaocha’s vibrant culture. 

The festival also introduced the Anaocha Hall of Fame, a tribute to illustrious figures such as Col. Robert Nnaemeka Akonobi, former military Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, former Governor of Anambra State, Chief Michael Okpala (Power Mike), former heavyweight champion in wrestling, Late Chief Anthony Enukeme, C.E.O of Tonimas Nigeria Limited, Senator Chief Victor Umeh OFR, and the late Prof Dora Nkem Akunyili, among other remarkable individuals who have left an indelible mark on Anaocha and beyond.
