* Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo has celebrated his Class five teacher, Chief T.N. Ezenwaka who just clocked ninety years old. The Governor attended a mass celebrated in his honour by the Bishop of Ekwulọbịa, Peter Ebere Cardinal Okpalaeke, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Uga, Aguata Council Area. Governor Soludo expressed his admiration for Chief Ezenwaka, who was his “Government teacher” back in Class 5 at Uga Boys Secondary School.
* Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim has tasked women to tackle the moral decadence in the society by building godly homes. The Archbishop, Province of the Niger, Ibezim who made the call at St Lawrence Anglican Church, Mbaukwu, Awka South Council Area, during the end of the year meeting of Awka Diocesan Clergy Wives Association, said women should place high premium on their boy and girl children alike as the challenges steering today’s society are products molded by them. Ibezim who is also the Bishop, Diocese of Awka praised the clergy wives for determination towards realizing their visions in the diocese while charging them to continue to support their husbands in their ministry.
* The Executive Director in charge of Operations in the Anambra State Internal Revenue Service (AIRS) Dr. Christian Madubuko has debunked in totality the allegations being peddled by one Osita Obi that the Revenue House has been submerged with supremacy tussle. ANN recalls that the said Osita Obi had claimed in some sections of the media that Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo made a fatal mistake by creating Executive Directors in the State Board of Internal Revenue that are not answerable to the Chairman. Osita Obi claimed that the creation of Executive Directors plunged the Revenue House into an unending crisis such that the Executive Directors now take unilateral decisions thereby reducing the Chairman to a mere figure head.
* Three victims of Nnewi building collapse, Late Mr. Chizoba Anaefuna, and his two sons, Udoka and Uzochukwu, will be buried on 20th October, 2023 at Nimo, Njikoka LGA of Anambra State, according to a family source. ANN recall that the trio lost their lives when a storey building with pent house collapsed at Egbu Umuenem, Otolo Nnewi, Nnewi North LGA while on carrying out electrical work in it. One person, however, survived the incident after he was rescued from the collapsed building, still under construction, and rushed to a hospital in Nnewi.
* The Obi of Onitsha, His Majesty Igwe Nnemeka Alfred Achebe (Agbogidi) has lamented that Nigeria as a country is dangerously at a crossroad in all the spheres of National endeavour. Achebe further lamented that the attendant implications of the outcome of the last general election across the country and the sustained protests occasioned by the exercise would have been averted had it been the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC convincingly conducted transparent elections with massive resources at its disposal.
* Immediate past Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Nkem Okeke, has joined in a funeral and thanksgiving church service in celebration of the life and times of his mother-in-law, Late Mrs Victoria Oyiboka Chukwudinma nee Ikwuemesi.
Mrs Chukwudinma, was born in 1934 at Aba, Abia State, to the family of late Nze Josiah Ogbogu Ikwuemesi of Nkwelle Ogidi, and later became a career nurse, with work experiences in Nigeria, England, among others. At the church service at St. Thomas Anglican Church, Mbanagu, Otolo Nnewi, Dr. Okeke described Mrs Chukwudinma as a role model and exceptional woman who took her as a son, not as son-in-law, and kept checking on him ever since he entered politics.
* African Dynamic Initiative For Youth Empowerment in collaboration with National Youth Service Corps has organized Meds Kital 2023 festival with a lot of freebies. The event held at Nibo Civic Centre featured free skills acquisition, free medical check -up, music, dance, comedy, eating competition, free haircuts, village cookathon, games and networking.
* Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra has vowed to eradicate the tout menace that has been haunting Onitsha and the State at large.
The Governor stated this during the 2023 Ofala Festival of the Obi Onitsha, Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe.
* Wife of the Governor of Anambra State and founder of the NGO, Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo, Mrs Nonye Soludo has announced that henceforth the government will set up designated examination and interview centres for persons living with disabilities who are undertaking recruitment into the state’s civil service. Mrs Soludo who stated this in Awka while addressing people with visual impairments at an event to mark the 2023 White Cane Safety Day, explained that the action had become imperative because of the severe challenges faced by this group during recruitment processes.
