* Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Anambra State chapter has condole with Governor Chukwuma Soludo over the loss of his father, Late Pa Simeon Nwankwo Soludo who departed to the great beyond at the age of 92 years. In a condolence message signed by Comrade Chimezie Anaso Chairman and Dr. Ikenna Nwokedi, Secretary reads “The demise of Pa Simeon is no doubt a great loss to the Soludo dynasty and the state at large. We are saddened by this development but we urge you to take solace to the fact that Papa lived a fulfilled life. SWAN Anambra sympathizes with you at this trying times and we pray for the repose of the soul of your father. Please accept our heartfelt condolence.

* Nnewi North Local Government Area under the leadership of Engr Chris Obiorah has moved to tackle roads potholes. ANN recall that Anambra Governor Professor  Chukwuma Soludo sometime last month promised to reconstruct Owerri road, spanning from Nnewi round to Okija junction through Ozubulu. Beginning from roundabout to Owerri road, all the potholes are getting serious attention. The exercise is expected to spread across all the affected roads in Nnewi North Local Government Area. ANN gathered.

* One thousand five hundred prospective corps members, comprising 714 male and 786 female 

posted to Anambra state has taken oath of allegiance at the NYSC permanent Orientation Camp, Umuawulu/Mbaukwu. The corps members were administered oath of allegiance during the swearing in ceremony by the state Chief Judge, Justice Onochie Anyachebelu.

Anambra NYSC State Coordinator Mrs. Blessing Iruma while addressing the corps members appreciated the support of the state government and the host communities, stating that national focus for the youth appears to be on acquisition of skills, owing to the scarcity of white-collar jobs and as such, the NYSC has risen to the occasion with the introduction of Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development, SAED, programme.

* Landlords of Grand Favour Estate Nkwelle Ezunanka in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State has called on the state government to come to their aid following the siting of a gas plant. ANN gathered that the group led a peaceful protest with placards at the site of the gas plant before heading to the State Government House and State Secretariat, Awka 

Addressing the landlords, Commissioner for Environment Dr. Felix Odimegwu confirmed that the Ministry of Environment received a petition from landlords of the estate and  assured them that the ministry and other relevant agencies would look into the situation.

* Anambra State has commenced a six-month 2023 Batch 15 mandatory conversion course for technical workers in the state civil service consisting of drivers, mechanics and plant operators. The exercise is being conducted by the office of the Head of Service in conjunction with Anambra State Co-Ordinating Council of Technical Workers Association (ANSCCTWA).

* Anambra Governor’s wife, Mrs. Nonye Soludo has described the death of her father-in-law, Pa Simeon Nwankwo Soludo, as a painful exit that will be remembered by many great memories. 

Mrs Soludo who stated this in a statement released in Awka, explained that Pa Soludo was a man who was loved by many people because of his sense of community, understanding of peace and tolerance. She noted that her late father-in-law laid a legacy of love, and raised all his children with discipline and hard work.

* The Transition Committee Chairman of Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State, Hon. Emmanuel Nweke, has bagged “Electoral Excellence and Grassroot Development Award’ from a Port Harcourt based organization,

ANN reports that the award was presented to the Council Chairman at his office in Nteje, headquarters of Oyi LGA, on Wednesday.

* The Chairman, Post Primary Schools Service Commission, PPSSC, Awka, Professor Nkechi Ikediugwu has inaugurated Club Of Patrons to partner the state government in management and funding of schools in Anambra State. The inauguration took place at the Anglican Girls Secondary School, Ogidi with many education officers, students, parents, teachers and the patrons in attendance.
