* The Driver of GUO Transport has sued the MD/ Chief Executive Officer of the Awka Capital Territory Development Agency (ACTDA), Mr. Ossy Onuko to court. The driver was reportedly beaten at Unizik Junction by some thugs attached to Onuko. ANN gathered that the driver and passengers filed separate suits at the Federal High Court, Awka Division and Anambra State High Court Division respectively for the Enforcement of their Fundamental Rights, brought by Chief Hon.Sir Barth Okafor-Ezedinobi Esq. of Barth Okafor-Onyilo &Co. on their behalf.

* Nollywood Actor, Mr. Chukwunekwu Okweye popularly known as ‘Jack Neko’ has married his heartthrob, Miss Favour Obieze at Agulu, Anaocha Local Government of Anambra State.

According to Mr. Okweye, he met his wife while attending a friend’s church at Enugwu-Ukwu in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State from where their love blossomed after about a year leading to their marriage. His wife, Favour expressed happiness that the journey of love reached the climax today and prayed for a successful and fruitful marriage journey.

* Ifebube Chelsea Benson, an 18-year-old girl from Ndikelionwu, Orumba North Council Area has made Anambra state proud by being named the overall best female candidate in the 2023 NECO Senior School Certificate Examinations (SSCE). The National Examination for High School Students is an annual test that assesses the knowledge and skills of high school students across the country. Ifebuche scored the highest among all the female participants in Nigeria, outperforming hundreds of other students to achieve this prestigious recognition.

* Secondary School Students in Ebenebe community, Awka North local government area, Anambra State has been urged to utilize the opportunity of being educated, as knowledge is power. Chairman Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ) Anambra State Council, Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu Phd, who was the guest speaker at the ‘Ebenebe Career Orientation’ urged the students to be law abiding and always keep to rules and regulations, stating that obidence is paramount in life. Dr. Odogwu while speaking at the Ebenebe Civic Center on Saturday on the theme “Innovation and impact: crafting a career with purpose’, emphasized that education is not scam. He called on the students to be respectful to their parents and to be ready to render service to humanity.

* Old Motor Spare Parts Market, Obsoi, otherwise known as ‘Ngbuka Obosi’, on Saturday, sealed their comfortable passage to the last four of the football event of the 2023 edition of the Anambra State Markets Competition following an emphatic 4-1 thrashing of Nnewi New Motor Parts Market. ANN reports that the thrilling clash took place at the Godwin Achebe Stadium, Fegge, Onitsha, with two goals on either half of the epic fixture.

* Anambra State Government have baned hawking and loading of vehicles on the Niger Bridge. ANN reports that as Christmas approaches, authorities of the Anambra Road Traffic Maintenance Agency (ARTMA) took the step in order to reduce the huge traffic during Christmas, when holiday makers begin to travel back home for the yuletide. A press release by the public relations officer of ARTMA, Mrs Nkem Umeadi stated that the agency has noted that the bridge had become a loading bay for motorists, while hawkers mill around the bridge.

* Ndi Nkwelle-Ezunaka who has been without a king for almost twenty-three years since after the demise of Igwe Raphael Nwakoby has been in joyful mood since after the election of Ogbuefi Obiora Anachuna about two weeks ago. The election which took place at Hilltop Primary School, Nkwelle-Ezunaka was adjudged to be free, fair and credible with presence of the press, State and Local Government representatives, including security operatives. Anachuna defeated former President-General of Nkwelle-Ezunaka Improvement Union and ex Anambra State Ohanaeze Chairman, Ogbuefi Chris Eluemunor and Ogbuefi Damian Odiche to second and third positions.

* Umuawulu community in Awka South local government Area of Anambra state has threatened to mobilise over 2000 persons to occupy Enugu Electricity Distribution Company EEDC, Awka office, if it fails to restore power to community within two weeks. The threat was contained in a protest letter titled ” Protest Against Continued Breach of NERC Decision on Restoration of Light to Health Centre Substation Transformer ,Umuaeulu” to EEDC by the community.

* Motorists, commuters and residents along the Onitsha-Owerri Road, have accused some naval ratings of using teenagers to extort money for them at the checkpoints they mounted at the Enamel axis, near the Upper Iweka area of the ever-busy federal road. Observers told newsmen that two young boys, were seen collecting money ranging from N200 to N500 from commercial drivers and tricycle operators before they were allowed to cross the barrier placed by the security operatives at that section of the road.
