* Mrs Maureen Okafor, a visually impaired woman from Umueje has gotten her March and April salary from the member
representing Oyi/Ayamelum federal constituency Hon. Gwacham Maureen Chinwe. This is in fulfillment of the lawmakers promise to her during a town hall meeting at Umueje, Ayamelum Local Government Area.
* Anambra State House of Assembly has expressed deep concern over the effect of crude oil exploration and theft in Ogwuikpele community, Ogbaru Council Area. Anambra Assembly Committee on Petroleum and Mineral Resources during an oversight visit to the community expressed concern over theft by Sterling Oil Exploration and Energy Production Company, SEEPCO. During the visit, lawmakers were confronted with the stark reality of environmental degradation, pollution, and socio-economic hardships caused by oil exploration activities in Ogwuikpele as residents shared their grievances, highlighting the adverse effects on their health, agriculture, and overall quality of life.
* Professor Chukwuma Soludo has expressed warm felicitations to the former President Olusegun Obasanjo on the celebration of his 87th birthday today, Tuesday, March 5, 2024. * Anambra governor’s wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo, has reassured her commitment to being in front of the campaign to protect women, children, and girls in Anambra State from every form of abuse and violence. The governor’s wife stated this when she received a team of partners led by IPAS Nigerian Health Foundation at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia. The guests, made of up members of IPAS, Anambra State Ministry of Health, Justice, Budget and Economic Planning, World Health Organization (WHO), are coming off fresh from policymaking meeting where it resolved to adopt two key policy documents into the Anambra legal books.
* A top aspirant in the 2025 Governorship election in Anambra State has said he may pick Mrs Margaret Obi, the wife of the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) as his running mate.
The politician who spoke newsmen said that was part of his strategies to unseat the incumbent governor of the state, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, in the 2025 poll.
* Chief Willie Obiano, former Anambra State Governor, has told a Federal High Court that he cannot be prosecuted in Abuja for fraud crimes he allegedly committed in Anambra State. Obiano who served two terms in Anambra State was arraigned before the court over alleged embezzlement of state funds amounting to N40 billion. Obiano asked the court to decline jurisdiction to try the fraud charges and to direct the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to shift the prosecution of the criminal matter to the appropriate place in Anambra.
* The former senator representing Anambra North Senatorial zone & the wife of the late senate president, Senator Margery Okadigbo has ones more, thanked the the transition committee chairman of Oyi local government, Hon Emma Nweke for immortalizing her late husband, His Excellency, Senator Dr Chuba Wilberforce Okadigbo. In a letter to the local government Boss signed by Senator Margery Okadigbo, the former law maker said that immortalizing the late Senate president who brought Oyi local government into political limelight then with his monument mounted inside the local government secretariat, is the greatest honour done to him and the family by Oyi local government.
* The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), Mr. Ossy Onuko has described the ongoing overpass construction at Aroma Junction project as a critical public infrastructure project that is very necessary in linking the two parts of Awka while also easing traffic congestion in the capital city. Onuko who also recognized the importance of a pedestrian walkway at the Regina Caeli Junction, hinted that the overpass being constructed at the Aroma Junction had also been yearned for by the public. The ACTDA boss however, emphasized that Governor Chukwuma Soludo is intentional about the all-round development of Awka, stressing that no part would be left behind in the Governor’s transformative vision for the capital city and Anambra State at large.
* A political group under the aegis of Soludo Women Movement has felicitated with their chairman, board of trustees who doubled as Hon. Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Hon. Chiamaka Nnake on the auspicious celebration of her birthday anniversary. Speaking on behalf of the group, the National Coordinator, Lady Ify Atogu described Hon. Chiamaka Nnake as an epitome of womanhood and political amazon. She said that Hon. Commissioner is a true reflection of humanity, a woman of soft heart, disciplinarian, modest, diligent and most importantly, a responsible and caring lady.
* Anambra State Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance Chief Sir Ifeatu Obi-Okoye has commended Mrs Nonye Soludo for House-2- House Women Initiative. Obi-Okoye said it was another platform for the women folk to be engaged and carried along politically, in the overall development of Anambra State. According to him, the governor’s wife has through her Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo initiative as well as her numerous interventions through the State Ministry of Women and Social Welfare, demonstrated genuine commitment towards the welfare and wellbeing of women in the state.
