* Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has assured Umuoji community in Idemili North LGA that his administration will do everything necessary to bring justice to their slain President General (PG), late Chief Sly Onyima. The Late Chief Onyima who was a member of Knight of Saint Christopher of the Anglican Diocese On the Niger was murdered in his hometown in February at the age of 57. Soludo who spoke through the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Hon. Tony-Collins Nwabunwanne, during the burial service in honour of the Late Chief Onyima at Saint Mary the Virgin Anglican Church, thanked Umuoji people and the  Onyima family for maintaining law and order and urged them not to lose hope but continue to believe in God.

* Marine Police of Anambra State Command has recovered bodies of the three remaining victims of the unfortunate boat accident involving a movie cast. According to a release from SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, two of the bodies were recovered while the last was washed in by the tide this morning. All the bodies have been deposited in hospital mortuary in Asaba while the President of the Guild of Actors and Actresses has been notified of the recovery.

* The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has expressed his profound condolences on the passing of Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, a distinguished politician and former Governor of Abia State, at the age of 72 years. Soludo in his condolence message commended the outstanding leadership qualities of the deceased and the sterling contributions he made in diverse spheres of public service in his lifetime.  The governor noted that Dr. Onu’s impressive legacy extends far beyond his tenure as a state governor. 

* The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Bar. Sly Ezeokenwa, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to the staff and students of Christ The King College, Onitsha, the Anambra State Government, and Nigeria for emerging as Global Champion in the World Affairs Challenge 2024. Nigeria emerged victorious at the prestigious World Affairs Challenge (WAC) 2024 as Christ The King College (CKC), Onitsha, representing the country, secured the coveted global first-place position. This remarkable achievement, which occurred on Wednesday, marks the first time Nigeria is clinching Gold in the competition’s 32-year history. 

* A former President-General (PG) of Amansea Development Union (ADU) in Awka North LGA, Anambra State, Chief Cajetan Nwokike, has reportedly been murdered. Nwokike was allegedly killed by yet-to-be identified gunmen. This tragic incident marks yet another assassination of a community leader in the state, occurring less than two months after the assassination of Chief Silas Onyima, the President-General of Umuoji.

* Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative, will intensify programmes on basic life support training to equip people with life-saving skills to tackle household emergencies. Anambra governor’s wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo’s announcement is coming on the heels of what she described as avoidable death of Nollywood star, JohnPaul Odonwodo, popularly known as “Junior Pope” who was involved in a boat mishap while on a movie trip. According to Mrs Soludo, spreading out training for the programme will get more people to have practical knowledge of basic life-saving protocols, including what to do when someone is involved in common accidents like drowning, electrocution, concussion, fainting, choking, etc.

* Persons suspected to be cultists has killed a young man at Unizik temporary site junction in Awka, Anambra State.

Details of the killing is still sketchy, but the man whose name was given as Nwanayoeze was gunned down around tricycle park, Unizik Junction. He was suspected to be a cultist, and his death has been linked to the ongoing cult war in Awka, which has claimed many young people, as rival cult groups target members of opposing groups.

* Women Wing of Youth Earnestly Support Soludo (YESS) otherwise known as YESS golden ladies has paid a solidarity visit to the Ag Vice Chancellor, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Prof. Kate Omenugha at her Nnobi, Idemili South LGA residence. The visit, according to the national coordinator of the group, Mrs Oby Uzochukwu was to congratulate her on her recent appointment by Governor Charles Soludo as the Ag Vice Chancellor of the COOU. She added that it was an opportunity to appreciate her for her inspiring lifestyle and her support for YESS golden ladies and to the development of Anambra State.

* Hotel Owners, shopping malls and companies in Awka and environs have described the services rendered by O.C Bravo Company, led by Architect Chukwuka Okonkwo, one of the companies working with the state government on waste evacuation and disposal as top-notch, judging from their timely response to waste evacuation.

Speaking to Journalists in Awka, one of the managers of BON Hotel Awka, Mr. Ernest Nwachukwu said that the services of O.C Bravo company are rated very high compare to what others give and described the operations of its staff as professional and urged the company to sustain the efforts towards timely waste evacuation.

* Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has commiserated with families, Actors Guild of Nigeria and the entire Nollywood industry on the painful loss of their members in a recent fatal boat accident that occurred along River Niger en route to a movie location. 

The Governor in his condolence message expressed deep regrets that talented, promising, young Nigerians like actor Junior Pope and others in pursuit of their career dreams could lose their lives in such unfortunate circumstances. This tragic accident, the Governor remarks, brings to the fore again the importance of engaging basic safety measures in water transportation in Nigeria, most especially the procurement of life jackets, hiring of life guards, and administration of first aids like CPR on victims.
