* An indigene of Awka, the Anambra state capital, Mr. Emeka Jude Agummadu (popularly known as Baby Awka) has denied being a member of any secret cult group or sponsoring any cult-related activity in the capital city. Mr. Agummadu, a popular market and transport union leader in the state, was reacting to allegations levelled against him by some netizens who accused him of sponsoring cultists and cult-related activities in the state. Taking to his social media handle, Agummadu, who also linked the recent killings in the capital city to land grabbing, boldly declared that he was neither a cultist nor a land grabber, against accusations by some persons whom he described as paid agents of darkness using fake Facebook account to malign his name.

* A ten-year-old pupil of St. Anthony Nursery/Primary School Nanka, Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Miss Agina Graham has emerged winner of the Spelling Bee Competition organized by Joseph Onourah Foundation. While Miss Nwafor Chimamada (age 8) of Pope John Paul Two Nursery/Primary School Oko and Miss Ojiekwe Chimamada (age 11) of Community School Ezira both all in Orumba North and South Local Government Areas cliches second and third positions respectively. The grand finale of the long-weeks competition was held at Ndiowo Civic center, Orumba North council area

* The Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye has described Anambra State workers as committed and dedicated people. Adeoye while congratulating workers in the State as they celebrate May 1st (workers day), appreciated them, especially their resolve in sustaining the message of peace and standing up against illegal sit-at-home on Mondays and any other act that threatens our national unity and public peace.

* The Anambra State Director, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Awka, Mr. Edozie Ajaegbu, has advised Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of patriotism and social responsibility by being constant in payment of their taxes, rates and other government approved levels. Ajaegbu, handed down the advise when he led some high raking officers of the Agency to familiarization tour to Awka South Local Government Area under the Leadership of Chief Anagor Thank God as the Chairman Transition Committee of the Council Area. The NOA State Director, who stated that even though the Agency is Federal Para-Ministry, yet it was meant to serve both the Federal, State and Local Government Area across the Country.

* The corpse of woman has stayed for four years and three months in a mortuary in Anambra state, for reasons bordering on the ownership and sharing of her late husband’s property by her children. The incident happened in Awka-Etiti in Idemili South Local Government Area of the State. According to a daughter of the woman simply identified as Mrs. Okonkwo, their mother died in January 2020, and was deposited in the mortuary, where she has been since that year till date, without burial.

* The member representing Awka South one constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Henry Mbachu has regretted the recent incidences of killings in Awka, as a result of cult clashes. The lawmaker in a video broadcast which said it is disheartening that Awka was degenerating into an unsafe place, despite being the capital of the state.

* Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has assure that every household in the state under his watch will have a taste of good governance before the end of his eight years administration. Suludo gave the assurance while speaking to journalists shortly after paying a condolence visit to the family of late Sir Dr. Nathan Emeka Okechukwu, aged 79 at Awka-Etiti community in Idemili local government area of the state. The governor, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Ernest Ezeajughi, said he is poised to ensure good governance in the state.

* In a society where most rich persons are known for oppression the poor, an Anambra-born journalist has decided to toe a different line and built a four bedroom bungalow for a childless widow. Dr. Innocent Okonknwo who hails from Aguleri community in Anambra and Founder/Publisher of Ogene Media Team, OMT, an online media outfit displayed this philanthropic gesture when he saw that the childless aged woman has lost roof over her head.

* At least one male adult has lost his life while one other got injured, as a speeding driver of a Sienna Bus rammed into a motionless faulty truck in Anambra State.
The fatal crash occured at about 8:26 am along the Igbariam axis of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway. Confirming this in a statement issued to newsmen, ARC Charles Iyiegbuniwe, Staff Officer, Public Education at the Anambra State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), said the crash involved a Truck BENZ 1513 (with the Registration Number UKP381ZU) and a green Sienna of LIVETH VATTEN LTD (with the Registration number KRD429AG). He also said the crash involved a total of 10 persons, comprising 7 males, and 3 females.
