The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has congratulated Ikemefuna Asika on his emergence as the Vice President for the Southeast Zone of the association.
Angel Network News (ANN) reports that
Asika’s appointment was confirmed in a letter signed by the National President, Benjamin Isaiah, and the Secretary General, Ikenna Okonkwo, dated July 1.
This followed his nomination by the Chairmen of chapters in the zone, replacing Frankie Omokhua who was removed by the SWAN Full Council in Kano on May 1.
The letter stated, “I write to inform you that your nomination as Vice President, Southeast in the Isaiah Benjamin-led administration has been approved by NEC. The appointment, which automatically makes you a NEC and Full Council member, provides you another opportunity to serve the Association, in line with the responsibilities of the office as outlined in the SWAN Statute.”
In his congratulatory message, Chimezie Anaso, chairman of SWAN in Anambra, praised the national leadership for approving Asika’s nomination. He emphasized that Asika’s emergence resonates well with the zone’s aspirations and will provide a clearer direction for the association, strengthening the bond among its members.
Anaso expressed his unwavering confidence in Asika’s ability to perform his duties with tact, fairness, firmness, humility, and candor. He said, “On behalf of the chairmen and members of the Sports Press in the five states of the Southeast zone and Anambra in particular, I want to appreciate the Benjamin Isaiah-led NEC for approving the nomination of Ikemefuna Asika as Vice President, Southeast Zone.”
