Aguleri World Forum, AWF has disbursed sixteen million naira to all the communities for procurement of security gadgets and for the delivery other projects.
Angel Network News (ANN) reports that the fund is one of Aguleri World Forum’s efforts towards realizing their major duties which are to foster progress, unity and development of the entire Aguleri communities which include Aguleri Central, Enugwu Aguleri, Eziagulu-Otu Aguleri, Enugwu Otu Aguleri, Mkpunando-Otu Aguleri, Eziagulu Uno, Igboezunu Aguleri and Ivite Aguleri in Anambra East Council Area.
According to the Forum, the choice to invest in security architecture of the communities is to assist the government to secure life and property of their sons and daughters.
The cheques were issued to the Presidents General of the eight communites in the presence of the traditional ruler of Mkpunando-Otu Aguleri, Igwe Johnson Onyeaka-Mbanefo and Ndi Ojiana Aguleri at Aguleri Civic Center.
They also used the event announced to announce the 2024 edition of IJENOKE’ programe which is a fundraising event where people donate to a collective purse which they use for developmental intervention projects in the communities.
Addressing the gathering, Igwe Onyeaka- Mbanefo praised Ndi Aguleri World Forum for their efforts to transform Aguleri and place and stated that their contribution are enormous and cannot be easily forgotten.
Mbanefo frowned at kidnapping and other criminal vices that has resurrected in their communities and called on the President’s General to sit up, work as expected and sanitize their of criminality.
The President General of Aguleri Community Assembly, Barrister Ifeanyi Iloakasia described it as slap on the face of the community that their children will be engaging in kidnapping in the community but thanked AWF for coming to their rescue with the disbursement.
Bar. Iloakasi pleaded with every Onye Aguleri to bear the interest of the community and join and support the 2024 ‘Ijenoke’ to help Aguleri World Forum do more works for the community.
Also responding , the President General of Mkpunando-Otu Aguleri, Chief Ifeanyi Terry-Mokwe on behalf of his colleagues recalled how AWF came to the rescue of the communities during 2022 flooding, commending them always thinking home.
Earlier in his speech, the Administrative Secretary, Aguleri World Forum, Comrade Tony Ezindu-Onyekwe said since inception that from the inception of AWF, Aguleri communities have witnessed a turn around in the development of the communities.
Comrade Ezindu-Onyekwe listed some of the projects carried out by the forum in the past to include road projects, beautification of Aguleri junction and other axis, renovation and equipment of schools, building of town hall and stated that funds for all these projects were through free donations.
Lending his voice, another member of the AWF, Mr Chinedu Anaukwu maintained that every indegene of Aguleri is a member of the group which is more of a social media organization focused on developmental projects and well being of the communities.
Anaukwu stated that they engage crowd-funding which they use to develop the communities even as he called on the leaders of Aguleri communities to promote the 2024 IJENOKE program to help mobilize people to become part of the exercise.
