Anambra Lawmaker ‘Nweke’ Urges FG To Tackle Hunger, Insecurity, High Inflation

The member representing Anambra East Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Obi Nweke has called on the federal government to urgently initiate measures to end the biting hunger, insecurity, high inflation as well as food insecurity ravaging the country at the moment.

Angel Network News (ANN) reports that Nweke who stated this while speaking to newsmen in Awka, regretted that the abject poverty, insecurity and unfavorable economic policies and programmes of the President Bola Tibubu administration have worsened the already precarious conditions of Nigerians.

Hon. Nweke further urged the federal government to urgently map out far reaching economic policies that will directly benefit the highest percentage of the citizenry, rather than implementing policies that would only be beneficial to the few rich and the elites.

The lawmaker cautioned the federal government against treating the forthcoming nationwide hunger protest with hostility as the 1999 Nigerian constitution as amended supports peaceful protest as a fundamental rights of the citizens, and asked the intending protesters to do so peacefully and in accordance with the law.

He commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his administration’s numerous youth empowerment policies and programmes which have made most Anambra youths self reliant, as well as employers of labour, urging him not to relent in his good works.

According to the lawmaker, he will continue to deliver the dividends of democracy to the good people of Anambra East Constituency for a safe, progressive and liveable Anambra East.
