* The zonal leader of all the markets in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State, Chief Ndubuisi Ochiogu, has expressed full confidence in the Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somto Udeze.
Speaking in an interview with journalists in Onitsha, Ochiogu, who also serves as the President-General of Ogbaru Main Market, praised Udeze for effectively fulfilling his responsibilities as Speaker. His comments come amid social media reports calling for Udeze’s resignation over the recent amendment of the electoral law by the Anambra State House of Assembly. Ochiogu dismissed the calls for resignation as baseless, describing them as a false alarm.
* Anambra State House of Assembly has held a valedictory session in honor of late Hon. Ernest Madu Onyekwena, a former lawmaker who represented Orumba North Constituency in the old Anambra State during the Second Republic in 1983.
Onyekwena, who hailed from Ufuma community in Orumba North Local Government Area, passed away at the age of 78. Late Onyekwena served as the Chairman, House Committee on Higher Education during his time in the Assembly.
* A group, Open Government Partnership (OGP), has urged Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo to urgently put in place a mechanism to prevent further erosion, flooding, and waste management hazards in Anambra State.
They also appeal to the governor to implement the state’s OGP-State Action Plan (SAP 1), which was not fully implemented by the previous administration, to enhance effective service delivery to the people.
The group made their position known during a one-day workshop held on Wednesday in Awka, the state capital, where they also finalised and validated the second State Action Plan (SAP 2).
Speaking at the event organised by the State Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning in collaboration with the United Nations International Children Emergency Fund (UNICEF), Senior Special Assistant to Governor Soludo on Budget and Economic Planning, Mrs. Ogochukwu Orji, who shed more light on the state’s performance in the implementation of OGP SAP 1, attested that Anambra has indeed come a long way.
* A town hall meeting held in Anambra State, brought together stakeholders to discuss the implementation of host communities provisions in the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).
The event held inAwka, attended by representatives from the government, civil society, and oil-producing communities, emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in the extractive industry.

* Convener of Ezinano Community’s security summit, Ozo Jeff Nweke has
made a passionate appeal to residents to take action against the rising violent crime in Awka, which has claimed many young lives.
Speaking during the security summit, titled “Combating/Preventing Violent Crimes and Cultism in Awka Metropolitan City,” Nweke said communities in Awka has been severely affected by violent crime and cultism, urging everyone to promote peace and harmony.
* A replication of Lagos Bar Beach has attracted seven Companies to the Onitsha South LGA for the establishment of the Niger Beach Project targeted at generating over N 37 Million quality for the Council when it comes on stream.
The project, which is aimed at developing the River Niger Beach into a Recreation And Retreat Hub of the entire Onitsha South and Onitsha North local government areas, is being executed by the Chairman of Onitsha South local government area Chief Emeka Joseph Orji.
The Chief Of Staff to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Chief Earnest Ezeajughi who paid a visit to the site after its clearance, commended the Council Chairman Emeka Joseph Orji for his vision in establishing the project, urging investors to be part of the business window.
* The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dragged the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) and the State House of Assembly to court, seeking to restrain the electoral body from conducting the local government council elections scheduled for the 28th of September 2024.
According to the summons with suit number 261/2024 before the Anambra State High Court in Awka, the APC is requesting the court to restrain ANSIEC from conducting the local government council elections based on the amended Anambra State electoral law.
The party also seeks an order to cancel, nullify, and set aside any election conducted by ANSIEC on the 28th of September 2024, based on Section 23 of the Anambra State Electoral Law 2024.
* Convener of the Recover Nigeria Project, Comrade Osita Obi has urged the people of Anambra State to re-elect Governor Chukwuma Soludo to enable him to accomplish his mission for the state.

alongside journalists, expressed his admiration on the giant strides of the current Anambra State government.
According to Obi, the governor is doing wonderfully well in the state, but the public has not been given the opportunity to learn about these developments. He said Soludo has significantly transformed the state into a livable city and urged residents to support the governor’s second term bid to enable him to continue the good work he is doing.
* The Chairman, Building Materials International Market Ogidi, Chief Jude Nwankwo, has donated two brand new shuttle buses to the Transition Committee Chairman of Dunukofia LGA Hon. C.C.Ozumba Esq, to beef up security in Dunukofia Local Government Area and its environs.
The building Materials Chairman Chief Nwankwo while handing over the keys of the shuttle buses to the TC Chairman at the council Secretariat Ukpo, said he was moved by the great developmental strides achieved by the T C Chairman hence his decision to present these gifts as his own support and encouragement to security and development of Dunukofia.
* Aguluezechukwu Youths Association in partnership with Zaram Life Foundation has held a three-day empowerment and awareness summit geared towards nurturing the youths for the future.
The summit which has its theme as “Youth empowerment in community development” attracted youths from the community, stakeholders among other dignitaries.
Speaking to newsmen after the exercise, the Chairman on the occasion, Architect Chukwuka Okonkwo who described the summit as worthwhile, called on the youths to always imbibe right morals, stay away from all forms of social vices and urged the organizers to sustain such trainings to enhance youth development.
