* As Anambra local government council polls draw near, Ojoto women in Idemili south have adopted and endorsed former Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili South local government area, Hon. Mrs Amaka Obi, as a preferred candidate for the forthcoming local government election scheduled to hold on 28th, September 2024.

Speaking through the women leader of Ojoto ward, Comrade Nonyem Vivian Obika, Hon. Amaka Obi said she has empowered many women through different empowerment programmes, stating that they are satisfied with her performance as the Transition Committee Chairman.

Comrade Obika said, the appointment of Hon. Obi as Caretaker Chairman changed the political narrative of the council area which brought hope for the indigenes and called on residents to rally behind Hon. Obi for more infrastructural projects in the council area.

* The traditional ruler of Omor community in Ayamelum LGA, Igwe Chris Oranu has advised his colleagues to desist from playing partisan politics in the state.

Igwe Oranu while speaking to newsmen at his palace recently noted that traditional stool is a sacred position in the society and should be expected to serve the interest of their people and reaffirmed his commitment to non-partisanship, emphasizing that a traditional ruler should remain neutral in political matters, offering support to the government of the day.

Oranu maintained that the citizens of his community, including political figures are all his subjects and that everyone residing within his community should be loved in equal measures including political gladiators.

* The International Family Foundation (IFF) has identified poor parenting as a critical factor contributing to moral decadence in Nigeria.

This position was made known during its annual South Eastern convention held at the Beautiful Gate Hotel in Awka over the weekend.

Speaking on the theme “Moral Decadence in the Society: The Role of the Family”, Engr. Onyebuchi Onwuteaka, Assistant Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), emphasized that poor parenting has severe consequences, encompassing a lack of discipline and responsibility, inadequate guidance and support, poor role modeling, ineffective communication, emotional instability, academic underachievement, and social mal-adjustment.

* An Entrepreneur Lady Ifeoma Umechukwu has called on youths to learn how to convert various waste products in their areas into wealth.

Speaking in Awka, Lady Umechukwu, who specializes in converting waste products into wealth, charged youths to engage themselves in this process instead of roaming the streets in search of non-existent white-collar jobs.

Lady Umechukwu, advised the youths to put interested in learning the process of how various waste products, especially animal faeces, cow horn, cow hoof, and bone, can be converted into useful ventures that can generate wealth too.

* The Member representing Idemili North and South Federal Constituency, Hon. Uchenna Harris Okonkwo announce registration for the Food Bank Initiative September edition.

This innovative program is part of a comprehensive effort to alleviate the adverse effects of fuel subsidy removal and combat hunger within the Constituency.

The Food Bank Initiative aims to provide a monthly supply of essential food items to vulnerable households, including the elderly, widows, and individuals living with disabilities in Idemili North and South. This initiative seeks to bring relief and hope to those struggling to make ends meet.

 

* Ndi Anambra have been urged to support Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s multi – sectoral development initiatives to accelerate the drive towards sustainable development.

While speaking, a Chieftain of All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, in Ojoto Idemili South Council Area, Prince Chibueze Okoli said Governor Soludo has redefined governance since inception of his administration through sustained interventions in various sectors

According to Prince Okoli, the Governor is fulfilling promises he made to the people and is transforming the State through mass road Infrastructure, Youth empowerment including the One Youth , Two Skills programme that is providing permanent solution to the challenges of unemployment, prompt payment of workers salary, agricultural revolution, free antenatal and delivery for pregnant women , free education for nursery one to Junor Secondary Three and employment of thousands of teachers and health workers.

 

* Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Works has visited the Ekwulubia township Stadium for an oversight inspection.

The Chairman of the House Committee Hon. Emma Nwafor while speaking during the inspection, said the aim of the visit was to assess the progress and quality of work being carried out at the stadium.

Hon. Nwafor who is the member representing Orumba South Constituency,
expressed satisfaction with the ongoing construction work, stating that M&C International Construction Company is responsible for handling the pavilion and work was progressing well. He commended the contractor for sticking to the required standards.

 

* The women wing of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, Anambra State Chapter has held its annual seminar and special prayer.

The event, with the theme “Women: The Real Help,” was held at PFN Secretariat Amawbia in Awka South LGA.

The seminar emphasized the crucial roles women play in supporting and uplifting their families, communities, and nation.
 

* In preparation for the upcoming LG election in Anambra state, the All progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for the Dunukofia LG Chairmanship election 2024, Hon.Chijioke Clement Ozumba Esq and his running mate, Lady Lilian Chinweze have formally and officially inaugurated an 80-man Ifezulumba campaign council in Dunukofia Local Government Area.

The event, held at the council secretariat Ukpo, is in readiness to take off campaign on the 12th September 2024, as contained in the ANSIEC guideline for Anambra state Local Government election

The Ifezulumba campaign council is categorized into five (5) groups with Hon. Onyemaobi Augustine Nonyelum as the Director General (DG) of the Administrative council and Prof. Offornze Amucheazi as the Chairman.

 

* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has tasked the Association of Non-Indigenes in Anambra State (ANIAS) to continue partnering with their host communities in the areas of security and grassroots development.

The governor made this statement in response to the congratulatory message sent to the state government by the leadership of the Association on the occasion of Anambra’s 33rd anniversary.
In the congratulatory message, the President of ANIAs, Prince Chigozie Nweke, expressed appreciation for the relationship between non-indigenes and their host communities.
