National Productivity Center, Anambra state has held a symposium to commemorate the 21st national Productivity day celebration.

the symposium with the theme “National Productivity Movement: an imperative for economic recovery, sustainable growth and development” was held at the federal secratariate complex Awka on Thursday.
The guest speaker Prof. Dennis Aribodor of the department of parasitology and entomology, faculty of biosciences Unizik in his lecture, spoke extensively on the
roles and responsibilities of civil servants:
According to Aribodor, civil servant is a major stakeholder and central player in Nigeria’s national Productivity movement, whose service is central to policy implementation, regulations and public service delivery.
The Versity Don listed the roles of civil servants as implementation and coordination of policy, regulatory and supervisory roles, data collection and analysis, public awearness and advocacy, training and capacity building, promoting effency service delivery, private sector involvement.
Speaking on the challenges facing productivity in Nigeria, Prof Aribodor listed poor attention to productivity production, industrial indisipline, lack of technological innovations, inefficient public policies, lack of policy continuity, weak institutions, recruitment of unqualified staff, inadequate funding for policy implementations, insecurity, lack of support as the main hindrances.
The guest speaker revealed that economic production is widely believed to be a pathway for national development despite numerous plans, policies, programmes and changes in structure legal framework.
“The hostile productivity environment is a major threat in production development, particularly those in endogenous productivity programmes.
“Improved security and stability, good governance and anti corruption policy, adoption of innovation and technology,
economic diversification, adoption of innovation, internalized productivity culture, public-private collaboration.
amongst others are the recomendations”.
Permanent Secretary Ministry of youths development Anambra State Engr. Dr. Martin Agbili while speaking encouraged National Productivity Center to enhence all opportunities they have in their parastatile so as to ensure that youths in Anambra state and nationwide are productive.
Engr. Agbili who represented the Commissioner for youths Hon. Patrick Agha-Mba, commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for using the one youth two skill to empower ndi Anambra have have help them in improving their lives.
The Director and Anambra State Coordinator NPC, Mrs. Stella Ugwu while speaking said the event is aimed at celebrating those who have been productive and also a means of spreading the message.
Mrs. Ugwu maintained that productivity should be a watchword because it deals with all sectors which improves the standard of living and the economy.
