Maureen Mmadu’ Calls For More Support For Female Footballers

Former Super Falcons Midfielder, Maureen Mmadu has called on parents to support their daughters endowed with football talent to actualise their ambitions for the benefit of the country.

Angel Network News (ANN) reports that the Ex-Internationale made the call during Umuawulu All Stars Football Club’s annual reunion game at St. Mark’s Anglican church field, Umuawulu in Awka South local government area.

The ex-Super Falcons star regretted that many youths gifted in sports, especially girls could not make it in football due to lack of support from their parents and commended Umuawulu All Stars for uniting all quarters in the community through the event, which she said will serve as a source of inspiration to upcoming stars in the area.

One of the organisers of the football game, Chief Azubuike Ekweozor while speaking noted that the event was a pleasant reminiscence of the good old days of Umuawulu in football and urged Umuawulu youths endowed with football talent to take it seriously as they will give them all the necessary support they need to succeed.

Another old star of the community that participated in the game, Chief Nnamdi Nwankwo revealed that the event was designed to make their indigenes who returned home for Christmas and New Year celebrations feel the joy of the season as well as encourage Umuawulu All Stars play for fun and not necessarily for competitive purposes.
